As expected, but now it’s official, Jay-Z’s new album Magna Carta Holy Grail is certified Platinum by the RIAA.
Following the RIAA’s rule change that was recently put into play stating that digital sales no longer have a 30 day waiting period to earn a certificate; makes Jay-Z the first artist in recording history to earn a Platinum plaque on the release date of an album.
Hov was presented a platinum plaque earlier today and he took to the Roc Nation IG page to share his groundbreaking achievement with the world.
To add, as previously reported, although already certified Platinum by the RIAA, Billboard and Soundscan do not follow the same regulations as the RIAA, so we have the first week sales projection for the sale of physical and digital copies, based off pre-orders and other factors, of Jay-Z’s MCHG that officially hit stores today (July 9th), and the Brooklyn rapper is expected to sell between 350k – 400k copies in its first sales week; the week that ends on Sunday, July 14th.
