Earlier this year, Lil Wayne and Birdman announced that a new Big Tymers project, minus Mannie Fresh, was in the works.
At the time of the initial report, it was said that Drake would take the place of Mannie Fresh, and that didn’t go over to well with the fans. Now, Drake speaks on the Big Tymers project, and explains that he’s not trying to take the place of Fresh, and that he really didn’t even know about the project.
During a recent interview with MTVNews at the 4th Annual OVO Fest, although caught off guard, Drake speaks on the possibility of working on a new Big Tymers project.
The YM rapper was caught off guard when asked about the project, as he says:
I didn’t get the phone call about that. But I’m sure I’ll be involved.
He adds, when the interviewer says it seems like Mannie Fresh and Birdman are talking again:
I would’ve loved to bring the Big Tymers out [at OVO Fest], that would’ve been crazy. But maybe we’ll save that for next year.
Drake explained that he never actually had a conversation with Birdman about working on a Big Tymers album:
Mannie Fresh is an incredible guy and of course Birdman is one of a kind. I think I heard about it or watched some of it, and then I got people being like, ‘You’ll never be a Big Tymer, your sh– is terrible — just going off on me.
So I’m not the one being like, ‘Oh I’m a new Big Tymer,'” he added, laughing. “[But] I’m down though, to work on anything. If Birdman calls me to work on something I’ma work on it.
