While he does promo for his new music TV network, Revolt, which launches tonight, Diddy stopped by Power 105.1’s The Breakfast Club and chopped it up with DJ Envy, Angela Yee and Charlamagne The God.
During the interview, Diddy spoke on what to expect from his new Revolt TV network, being King Of New York, and more.
Diddy says Revolt will be the #1 spot for all things music, and explains where the idea to launch the network came from:
That’s really the opportunity I saw. I saw there was no ESPN of music, no CNN of music, there was no one trusted destination for music.
He adds that Revolt will be a place for underground artists as well as mainstream:
Our whole thing is also having enough fearlessness to play what doesn’t usually normally get play, so different alternative artists, we’re going to be multi-genre, to especially in hip-hop, like Travi$ Scott, or like two years ago, A$AP Rocky.
Right now our focus for the first six months to twelve months is to really do one thing great and that’s really be the number one destination for music. I think us being live and real time is an important part of it, so the news that we’re going to be reporting is going to be live.
We want to do something in the mornings, for people that get up in the morning and turn on the TV.
The Hip Hop mogul also noted to expect a debate type show on the network:
We also want to have like more of a debate show. Almost like a real time with Bill Maher. A panel discussion on different issues we have in the hip-hop community.
During his sit down, Diddy also touched on being the King of NY over Jay-Z as he stated:
On this [King of] New York thing… He [Jay-Z] can be the King of Brooklyn.
