Five time Grammy Award winning artist Cee Lo Green has plead not guilty to a 2012 felony charge for slipping a woman ecstasy without her knowledge. The singer/rapper also had charges that he sexually assaulted the woman during the incident dropped.
As reported by TMZ, Cee Lo appeared in a LA courtroom and plead not guilty to a felony charge stemming from an alleged incident in which he gave a woman ecstasy without her knowledge before having sex with her.
According to the LA County’s District Attorney’s office, Green “allegedly slipped ecstasy to a 33-year-old female while the two were dining at a downtown Los Angeles restaurant.”
Green was also charged with “rape of an intoxicated person,” for the same incident, and today the singer/rapper had that charge dropped as the LA County District Attorney said that there was insufficient evidence to move forward in that case.
Cee Lo’s lawyer, Blair Berk, issued a statement to TMZ on the Goodie Mob artist’s sexual assault charges being dismissed:
We are pleased that the Los Angeles County District Attorney has completed its investigation and concluded that the evidence did not support the false and unfounded claims made over a year ago.
As a result of the ecstasy charge, Green posted $30,000 bond and is expected to turn himself in for booking within 24 hours.
If convicted, Cee Lo Green faces up to four years in prison.
