A Brooklyn Heights, NY park has been named in honor of the late Beastie Boy’s rapper Adam “MCA” Yauch.

May 4th will mark the one year anniversary of the passing of Adam “MCA” Yauch. In honor of the late Beastie Boy, Palmetto Playground, in the Brooklyn Heights section of the New York City borough where Yauch grew up, has been renamed after the rapper, according to Today.com

The park was renamed to Adam Yauch Park during a dedication ceremony, today, and was attended by MCA’s parents, fellow Beastie Boy Adam “Ad-Rock” Horovitz as well as Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz.

Adam “Ad-Rock” Horovitz gave a statement on the park being renamed after his fellow Beastie Boy as he thanked the New York Parks Department and the people of Brooklyn…

“for honoring my friend and brother, and recognizing how cool it is to have an Adam Yauch Park for other crazy New York kids.”

Adam “MCA” Yauch died on May 4th, 2012 at the age 47 after a long battle with cancer.
