How Do I join Defsounds?

Joining Defsounds is super quick. Just click the sign up button on the upper right, chose a username, fill in the quick form and click sign up. That's it! You're ready to take part in the Defsounds community.

How do I post a comment?

To post a comment you must be logged in, you can then scroll to the bottom of the respective article and submit your thoughts. HTML is not allowed in the comment fields.

What's a media feed?

The media feed can be found on the homepage. It lists all the new music, videos, and mixtapes added to the site in real time.

Where are the mixtapes?

Mixtapes have now been added to the media feed. We're currently rolling the site out in phases, a section dedicated to mixtapes will be coming soon.

What happened to singles?

Singles have also been rolled up in the Media feed. You can also click on the singles tab in the navigation.

How do I change my avatar?

To change your avatar, from your control panel ,click gallery, click browse, select the image you would like to use, click ok, check the "set as my avatar" option and click upload.

To send a friend request, visit the users profile and click "Add as friend/ follow" on the upper right.

To gain new friends, you gotta be popular..and to be popular you gotta participate in discussions so don't be shy and comment!

Where do I see what my friends are up to?

From your control panel, click on Friends.

Can my friends see what I'm up to?

Yes.

What are fans?

Fans are users who decide to follow you but you do not add as a friend.

How Can I send a message?

To send a message, click on the user's profile, then click the message button.

How Do I Blog?

To add a blog simply click the Blog some! button on the right. From there, things are pretty self explanatory. Fill in the title, pick the CORRECT category and add your rating (hey, presidents can vote for themselves, why can't you?). Once you're done with your blog, click post and it's added to the site.

What's the "Teaser?"

The Teaser is the a summary or preview of the blog, it's what readers will see before they click to read your article.

What's the Body?

The Body is your actual post, html is allowed here. You can embed videos, songs, and add pictures to your text. You can also format the text using html tags.

Where did my blog go?

When you add a blog, it is sent straight to the category you chose. So if you added a piece of News, your blog will show up under the News subsection: http://www.defsounds.com/categories/news

How Can I get my blog on the front page?

Getting your submission on the front page is simple. Once you submit something, your fellow users can prop or trash it. If your submission is propped enough times, it shows up on the front page--if it's crap, it's sent to the trash where it belongs. So make sure you don't submit crap.

**Users who submit adult, racist, and/or offensive material, will be permanently banned**

What kind of stuff can I blog about?

You can blog about anything you want, just keep it interesting and tasteful. There's a team of moderators in place to make sure you don't post crap.

How can I make my blog look better?

You can make your blog look better by adding pictures, videos, and songs. You can also use html to format it. (<p> </p>, <strong></strong>) etc.

Can I add pictures to my blog?

Yep, you can add pictures using the <img src="address of picture"> html tag.

How do I add a video?

You can any videos from any website that allow embedding, for example, youtube.com, dailymotion.com. Just copy and paste their embed code in your blog.

How do I add a song?

You can add any song from any website that allow embedding. For mp3s, we suggest you upload to filebrella.com and use their embed code.

Where Do I report offensive content?

You can email us with the URL of the content using the contact form here.

How can I get content removed?

You can email us with the URL of the content and reason using the contact form here.

How do I delete my account?

You can email us your username and reason using the contact form here.

How Can I embed Defsounds singles and videos on my website?

Click on share and copy the embed code provided.

What is "prop/trash"?

The prop/trash feature allow you maintain the quality of the site. If a user submit's crap you trash it, if they submit something good, you give it props.

Why was my comment/blog deleted?

Odds are you did something wrong.

New Features

Expanded Profiles:

We've redone the profile system and added a ton of new features with alot more to come.

What you can do:

Don't be a loser, get some friends:

You can now add and/or follow other users. What exactly is this? Well, when you follow someone you'll be able to see what they're doing around the site. If someone you're following posts a blog, you'll know about it. If someone comments, reads, etc, you'll know about it.

A user only becomes your "friend" if you add/follow them as well..otherwise they'll just remain a "fan" of yours.

To add or follow someone just go to their profile and click the "Add as friend/ Follow" button.

Their activity feed will be added to your profile automatically. You will be notified of new friend requests in your user widget.

Messaging:

The messaging feature is fairly easy to use. You can message any user at any time. There's no html allowed in messages. You will be notified of new messages in your user widget.

To send a message, visit the user's profile you would like to contact and click the "message" button. If the user replies, your conversation would be listed in an IM style interface in your inbox.

Gallery:

Users can now upload their own images to share with their friends.

To add an image to your gallery click on your gallery button under the "blog some" from your control panel. On the right hand side, click browse.

Find the image you would like to add and click ok.

Fill in the name field and click upload.

If you would like to set this image as your avatar, check the "set as my avatar" option.

To delete an image, click the delete button on the lower right hand side of the image in your gallery.

Blog Some!

With the Bloggin feature we're taking an unprecedented step towards Democracy here at Defsounds. We're essentially putting the website in your hands. You can now add your own news, blogs, singles, videos, and rumors...if the added content is good enough, it shows up on the front page.

Is there any other way to blog?

If you read an article and want to respond on it but know the response is probably too long for a comment, you can click the Blog This! button on the right of the article and respond with your very own article.

This can be done with anything added to the site.

Album Reviews

Your reviews suck, can I add my own?

Yes. You can now add your own album reviews and throw them up to be judged by your fellow users.

To review a new album, simply choose "reviews" from a new blog post.

To submit an album review of one already on the site, go to the corresponding album and rate it or click "blog this."

A summary of your review will show up on the right side of the official Defsounds review. Remember, if propped enough times, it'll also show up on the front page.
