5. Black Rob- “Whoa”
Topping off at number five is yet another Bad Boy artist, named Black Rob with his 2000 hit, “Whoa” which was blazing the air waves when it came out. The song charted its ways to number 43 on the US Hot 100, and number 8 on the US R&B/Hip Hop helping him reach platinum status on his debut album.
Last we heard of him, he was breaking into hotel rooms and stealing jewelery.
4. Peter Gunz & Lord Tariq- “Deja Vu”
At number four, the New York duo Peter Gunz and Lord Tariq had one of the biggest summer anthem of 1998 with Deja Vu. They had everyone saying, “Uptown Baby, Uptown”, even if you lived downtown or in the suburbs. The song was a platinum hit which rose to number nine on the Billboard Hot 100. After that, wasn’t Tariq seen making songs with Tatyana Ali (Ashley from Fresh Prince of Bel Air)?
3. Sir Mix-a-Lot- “Baby Got Back”
Coming in at number three is 1992’s song by Sir Mix-a-Lot and his best known song, “Baby Got Back”. The females who have junk in their trunk, can thank Sir Mix for making it popular to have a big ol’ butt. The song reached number one on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart for five weeks in the summer of 1992, and won a 1993 Grammy Award for Best Rap Solo Performance.
The song has been featured in many movies and cartoons and spawned numerous parodies.
“Oh my God, Becky! Look at her butt! It is so big.”
2. Vanilla Ice- “Ice Ice Baby”
Coming in at number two, Vanilla Ice with his 1990 hit single, “Ice Ice Baby”, leading it to be the second rap song to ever reach number one on the US Billboard Hot 100. The song that took the world by storm itself was a gift and curse for the rapper. The single sold close to 15 million copies, and was nominated for a Grammy for Best Rap Solo Performance in 1991 but lost to MC Hammer’s “U Can’t Touch This”.
The song samples Queen and David Bowie’s song, “Under Pressure”, but Ice denied the claim of it being sampled at first saying the bass line was different. There were also rumors that Suge Knight hung him over a balcony due to not receiving royalties, claiming his friend wrote the song for Vanilla Ice.
1. Sugarhill Gang- “Rappers Delight”
Coming in at number one,the one’s that started it all—hip hop pioneers the Sugarhill Gang with their classic hit, “Rappers Delight”, one of the first ever hip hop singles.
The song hit number 36 on the US pop charts, number four on the US R&B charts, and number three on the UK singles chart. In 1979 it became the first ever hip-hop single to go gold.
Phrases from the song have been referenced by rappers and singers alike to pay homage for the single. The song has been featured in numerous movies, commercials, and video games.

I called it...I knew Peter Gunz and Lord Tariq would be on here. As soon as I heard that song for the first time, I was like, thats a hit and probably the only one they'll ever have. Milli Vanilli had more hits and they didn't even sing they're own songs. Crazy...
Mix-a-Lot had hits long before Baby Got Back---Posse on Broadway, Iron Man, Hooptie.
y'all forget one nigga.MC Hammer - Can't touch this.
Sugarhill Gang- “Rappers Delight
that's a classic song :S

That Lord Tariq and Peter Gunz shit is def a 1 hit wonder...das a classic tho. But damn, now that i really sit back and listen to, Tariq sounded like Sauce Money...haha. Remember him? WTF eva happened to him? I guess he fell threw the same cracks Rell and Amil and Christion and dem did...
the number one was wack as fuck how you gone have rappersdelight as number one!!!!! it should have been sometin else I waited all that time for this!!!!!!!
u know how much sugarhill has been sampled and quoted from shyt off that song?!?!?!? yea they probably fit up there with number one. Hammer's "Cant't touch this" is the only thing thats really missing... especially considering the bank he got (that dissappeared). Black Rob sorta fit up there becuz think about it. Thats his 1 tru video hit rite there despite what his cd's mite of been like...

WHEN LISTING TO RAPPER'S DELIGHT NOW IT SOUNDS MORE LIKE A BATTLE IN RESPECT TO hip.hopTHE FLOW IS SIMOTINOUSLY SMOOTH WITH OUT A DOUUBT. BUT TAKING THE RAP FROM D.J CASANOVONA THEN GIVING A NOTABLE THROW DOWN IN THIS CLASSICK ITS WELL WHAT EVER IT WAS BUT TAKING IT BACK TO WILDSTYLE NOT ONLY IS IT THE BEST hip.hop DOC. EVER MADE IT WAS hip.hop IN IT'S TRUEST FORM
