Alright look--I know what you guys are thinking. "Why the fuck is Defsounds advertising Kentucky Fried Chicken!?" and the answer is simple.
Because Kentucky Fried Chicken is fucking delicious!
Moving on--continuing off the 9 To Watch In '09 blog, alot of you questioned why some artists were completely left out of the equation which led me to question where the fuck ARE those artists. So here's my list of six rappers I wish would finally drop and album.
6. Papoose
Hot damn!, the release of Pap's Nacirema Dream has turned into a nightmare and is reaching Detox status. The only difference is, unlike Dr. Dre, Papoose has lost a whole lot of steem since he first signed with Jive records in 2006.
Papoose might've missed his chance to sell a good amount of records, unless he can work some magic and drop a global hit, he might as well give it up and go to law school so he can free Remy.
5. Joe Budden
Budden signed with digital label Almalgam Entertainment after being dropped from Def Jam this year an announced the release of the forthcoming LP. However, as we reach the month's mark for it's release and as we've yet to see a single off the album, I predict this one will probably get pushed back to first quarter of 2009.
4. Joell Ortiz
Now how disappointed are we that he was dropped from the historic label? Ortiz manage to generate a great buzz for himself and even landed a deal with the majors--now as a free agent, we're not sure what's next for the Brooklyn MC.
His second LP, "Free Agent," was supposed to hit stores sometime this year but so far we've gotten nothing but a few singles, including "Letters To Obama."
3. Saigon
Saigon's The Greatest Story Never Told might as well be renamed to The Greatest Story You'll Never Hear. From what we've heard so far, the album, which has been delayed for going on FOUR years now, will definitely be a good listen.
Production is being led by Sai's good friend and super-producer Just Blaze and appearances include Jay Z, Swizz Beats, Trey Songz, Faith Evans, and Bun B.
The album was rumored to be coming out at the end of this year but that seems unlikely.
2. Crooked I
The series is said to be a lead up to Crooked's B.O.S.S. (Beginning Of Something Serious) LP which is slated to hit stores sometime this year.
1. Royce Da 5'9"
Bar Exam 1, Bar Exam 2, and countless freestyles only makes us want more.
Royce's "The Revival" was supposed to hit stores in 2005--recently a 14 track comp bearing the same title hit the web but according to Royce that is definitely not the real thing.
We assume he's just making too much money Ghostwriting for Diddy (he wrote Tell Me as well as a few other tracks on Press Play).

Sad to say it, but the only album on this list that i see potentially NEVER dropping is Pap's Nacirema Dream....just a few years ago Pap had a huge buzz goin for him in hip-hop circles, and used to be one of my favorite rappers...now everybody got tired of waitin for his shit, and imo every new track he releases sounds like the same old repetitive shit...
As for the rest of these cats, im most definitely looking forward to each and every one of there albums, especially Crooked and Joell's...I don't expect any of these albums to do well on the charts, but i do expect them to be amazing albums, givin the talent of the artists on this list, and the time it's taken them to drop.

I wish all of these MCs success and more critical praise from more than us.

This article is more about the cats that should have come out but have missed there moment. Everyone of them needs a smash hit single to get there name out to the masses or they WILL NOT do numbers, regardless of how good there albums are. Every one of these cats are well known only in hip hop circles, the general populace isn't aware of any of them. These are six of the top six cats rhyming, hands down, but pop culture doesen't know who they are, and that's who will by the most albums. I wish them the best.
