Rick Ross: First lets start with an easy rapper, Rick Ross. Man this guy really needs to just quit with the rap thing and get back into the work force or something. He is not a bad artist but at the same time he is! His style is very tired and very repetitive when it comes to his flow on tracks, his wordplay (what wordplay?) and the things that he talks about are always the same. O and theirs the BIG FACT THAT HE IS A LIAR!! He acts like he is in Columbia shaking hands with the cartel when he was shaking hands with the warden in real life! He got exposed for being a C.O. I mean they even had the mans SSI# for God sakes and he still lied and continues to lie. News flash ricky there is nothing wrong with having a good job, the problem is that you continuously lie about it even when the proof is in the pudding. Being a fraud is not accepted in the hip hop community and Rick Ross is more fake than George W. Bush degree from harvard. It seems he did well on his 1st week sells but how many copies did def jam buy really? I dont expect the next album to do so well when it drops. Enjoy the success while you can ricky but when the rap thang is over you can always get into the WWE; they love to hire actors!
Busta Rhymes: I know I will probably recieve some heat for this but the next man that needs to hang it up is Busta Rhymes. He has survived in the rap industry for a very long time and he has put out some really good music out but it seems like he is past his prime now. The Arab money joint was alright at best. Yes Ron Browz was hot at the time for the radio (for what reason i dont know because he SUCKS) and it was an alright look but honestly the song wasnt that good. Again Ron Browz sucks so that doesnt help the song and then Busta doesnt come on the song that hard which makes it kind of a waste. In short thats a song I wont remember in 2 year. Then there is the T Pain joint which is an alright song but here is the problem. T Pain is getting annoying to the public. The man is oversaturated in the market. Again it was a nice attempt to stay relavent but instead you are showing how irrelevant you are these days Busta. Sorry but you are getting old and these songs you make seem to be stretches to keep up with the rap industry. Time to sit down on the bench.
T Pain: He is not really a rapper or he doesnt rap anymore but I jus wanted to bag on him for a quick minute. T Pain your time is almost over. Ill admit you have had a great run and all but its about time that you pack up that sorry excuse of a plug in known as the autotune and go home. You have put some good songs out but you are getting on everybodies nerves brother. T Pain is like herpes, you are tired of seeing him and you do everything you can so that he can disapear but he keeps popping up. Slowly but surely the autotune phase is starting to die out (Praise The LORD) and T pain will die out with it.
Jadakiss: Next on the list is Jadakiss. Now i know i am going to recieve alot of heat for this one but it seems that his time is running out! Kiss has put alot of great songs out both with the Lox and solo but he is getting old. I have heard a few singles from him recently and his flow sounds outdated on those songs. We all know Kiss is a good lyricist but his flow is still stuck in 1998. He doesnt appeal to the rap industry any more like he once did in the past. I am very suprised that his latest album has had as much success as it did in the 1st week. I thought he was going to flop but instead he sold 135k. Those singles that he released were very shakey in my opinion. His music still sounds like it is in the 90s. There is nothing wrong with his music having that sound but the previous songs he has released have not been refreshing. But somebody is still buying his music which is a good thing to see. It still doesnt change my opinion that his clock is ticking and its ticking fast.
Soulja Boy: Yes its another easy one and Im sure we can all agree that Soulja Boy needs to give up on the mic. The fact that you can blow up off of a simple fruity loops beat is simply unbelievable. Then there is the fact that he rhymes like Dr. Suess and gets rotation on the radio. I cant stand turning on the radio and hearing nursery rhymes all the time! It is real obvious that the guy is just a gimmick and is being used by the people who wear ties (CEOs A&Rs etc...). Lets face it the kid basically has no talent. Now he may appeal to the preschool-8th grade crowd but he does not have a long career rapping. His last album that he droped in 08 did not do all that well! As of today it has sold 200,000 units which isnt bad but it isnt good. All it shows is that soulja boys clock has started ticking. And its time somebody that isnt as ignorant and has something important to say can take his spot in the limelight! I hope that he has saved some of that money for college. (Probably not)
Jim Jones: Jim Jones is next on the hit list and I think we all know why. Lets start off with some facts. His album Pray IV Reign is the definition of a flop. It has been out for almost 2 months and it has only sold 50,000 units. For a major label that sucks. Especially when you are getting promo on MTV commercials and BET106th and Park. Then there is the fact that the sorry excuse for a song Pop Champagne is getting played 2 times every hour. And you are telling me that he couldnt even sell over 100,000 copies with all that wind behind his back! The cold part about the whole thing is that everybody expected Jimmy to be certified plastic and he is certified plastic. When people are expecting you to flop then that means your career is pretty much over as a rapper. Lets face everybody knows that your a one hit wonder Jimmy. People were saying it before your album even dropped and you proved them right! Camron dont associate with you in front of the camera because I think he knew this was comming (WE AL DID). Now you want to be cool with Cam and all but thats pretty much done. The only way Jimmy will be able to stick around is if he tags with Juelz and gets back with Camron. Then he can do what he does best which is stand in the background and not say anything.

Don’t agree with busta/jada and 50/50 on ross deeper then rap was crap but people still buy his albums so.. why should he quit if he can get money.

Niggas that need to retire are the old heads from the 80s that’s still putting out shit like KRS, Kool Moe Dee etc…Yea their legends but their times are long gone…Also Nelly and 50 are two niggas that used to be huge but now a days can’t generate a hit to save their careers. Those two should think about retirement from the rap game and try to continue the business side of things.
This is his opinion and his screen name pretty much says it all.
My only problem with this list is that he seems to flip flop with his criteria for Quitting/retiring. Is it about sub-par talent or record sales? It switches for each person. The people who handle Soulja are making a mint off this kid…he ain’t going nowhere. Is it about people who should be dropped from their labels or people you just don’t like?

I’ve bought 7 hip-hop albums this year, all in the last month (or whenever Jada dropped) and I only see reviews for 3 of them… why?
1. Jadakiss – The Last Kiss [OUTSTANDING]
2. Sheek Louch – Life On D-Block
3. Busta Rhymes – Back On My B.S. [ok]
4. Cam’ron – Crime Pays [I’m REALLY feelin’ it in my whip!!]
5. Freeway – Philadelphia Freeway 2 [Haven’t listened yet]

7. Method Man & Redman – Blackout 2 [Feelin’ it]

I just skim the blogs then read them if I feel they’re worth really reading. After seeing that I had to read it. You repeated yourself way too much and when you were talking about Busta you change routes and talk about T Pain, then a few lines later who, T Pain, who isn’t even a rapper. Jadakiss??? t pain: this nigga aint even a rapper, so i dont know what you mean retire. why would he retire from just singing hooks on rappers shit and makin hell of money. some people may be tired of him, but retiring dont make sense from his point of view.
First lets talk about officer Ricky.
I dont think he should retire, I think he should be ran out of rap… I dont know I guess I’m just old school, you know like from the days of Cop Killer and Fuck the Police, but you still got rappers colaborating with him and people buying his shit.
Secondly, I disagree with Jadakiss retireing.
You said he raps like hes stuck in 98,… with the state that the rap game is in nowadays, i really dont think thats a bad thing. The quality of music in the past 10 years has fallen to the point of being what Nsync and Britney were in 98, (Pop Music). Where rap in 98 was bringing heat, Jay in his prime, Em in his prime, Nas in his prime… I personally think we need more rappers stuck in 98, 98 brought talent, todays game lost it….
I guess thats just my opinion though.
Let’s take it from the top:
1. Rick Ross – Now this one will have to be a YESS!. He needs to hang the mic up and gracefully bow out. A CO is a cop and we dont have room for cops. Shit is real on the streets, it’s not a game. Rick Ross has a sick flow, whoever is producing his music is sick too because they make the type of music that comes with some international appeal. But in a game as real as hip hop, he messed up real bad. He could’a pulled it off with some Will Smith rhymes. Now he smells like an undercover cop whose cover got blown. The tattoos don’t mean nothing; the cartel rap don’t mean nothing, the Maybach is a facade to draw people in…at the end of the day a pig is a pig. And if he’s really from the streets and he’s really real, he’d say “ yo, I know I ain’t no cop but since my name got tainted, I ma step off” but he’s trying to stick around which makes Def Jam look like they’re working with the HHP (hip hop police). It feels like they tryin’ to force this cop in our face whether we like it or not. And that’s what the police do.
2. Buster Rhymes – Now if you say he should retire, I’ll start thinking you’re an undercover HHP too. You can’t go at real niggaz like BUS and try to bring em down. BUS is one of the few real niggaz we got left in the rap game and ain’t no way ever, should he hang up the mic. This one is a BIG NOOO! For me.
3. T-Pain – This one is easy. He’s over saturated but not badly. His camp is promoting him right if he’s over saturated at all. So I’d say he should stay under one condition. He should reinvent himself. Come out with a refined sound and a new message. If he could do that then yeah he can stay but the excessive use of the autotone is making it look like he’s got a crutch. However, I never looked at T-Pain as a rapper. He was always an ‘R&B undercover thug’ type to me. So he gets a MAYBE! from me.
4. Jadakiss – Now here, there’s simply no discussion. He stays! The answer is NO! he shouldn’t retire. I think he just got started. Him, Styles and Sheek. I think the best is yet to come with these guys. If anything I wish they get a deal like the one Eminem got.
5. Soldier Boy – I think this one depends on who you talk to. They said he was a one hot wonder and he went and did ‘thru the phone’ which is a hit. So I’d give him a MAYBE! At least he didn’t come out banging some fake rhymes.
6. Jim Jones – Is a decent rapper. He caught a dry spell. It happens. There is some loyalty issues there too with the Cam’ron situation. He was the capo, no matter what he should’a been loyal to his boss. He should’a lead the team as the capo in the absence of the boss but shit happens. He’s gonna have to mend bridges, redefine himself and give it another try. This one is a MAYBE! Just because of the loyalty issue.

Jada’s new album is far better than what this dude is saying…For years people have been saying Jada has rhymes all day but his beat selection wasn’t that great but now that his beats are better are this album and Jada is still doing him on the lyrics side….his flow sounds like “it’s stuck in the 90’s?” “Things I’ve Been Through” is easily one of the best introspective tracks I’ve heard in a while
And the worst thing about this blog is the actual list this dude has included Busta and Jada in Rick Ross, Jim Jones, T-Pain, and Soulja Boy? Are you serious? lol Busta and Jada have more quotables and memorable verses than everyone else on that list. Soulja Boy Tell’em has huge goals for himself. He would love to tour with Rick Ross and Eminem this summer. And as he crafts his third LP, The DeAndre Way (that’s Soulja’s government name, y’all), he wants the A-listers in hip-hop to rap on it.
How does a track with Soulja Boy and Jay-Z sound? Or Soulja Boy and Kanye West? What about Lil Wayne? That’s who he says he’ll be reaching out to.
“I want the best of the best on this album,” Soulja said Saturday night in L.A., backstage at the yearly throwdown known as KIIS-FM’s Wango Tango concert. “I don’t want no bullsh—. I want, from start to finish, classic #1 records. I’m not playing.”
When he drops his LP later this year, Soulja wants to eclipse the success of his debut album, SouljaBoyTellem.com. “Mark my words: This album will be a classic,” he promised. "A lot of people been sleeping on Soulja Boy for a long time.
“A lot of people … said I was garbage,” he added. “They said I was a one-hit wonder, then I came with ‘Kiss Me Through the Phone,’ my second #1 single. Then I released ‘Turn My Swag On,’ my third #1 single. I got everybody’s ears open, so I’m gonna hit them with a classic. Mark my words: This album will go platinum. It will be the best album I’ve put out so far.”
Soulja said he’s been so preoccupied with making hits, he’s been neglectful in letting his fans in on his pivotal life’s events.
“My first two albums, I never did tell people my story,” he said. “I just put out fun records. … Now that people got these hits, it’s time to go in on ’em.”

Wayne and Kanye can probably do the album but Jay wouldnt work. The people that listen to soulja boy for some reason thinks Jay is whack or as DonDelVita puts it he’s lame, and for that reason doing a record with Soulja boy would b pointless because the younger generation dont respect him.

nas / jay-z – these talented rappers are if anything tarnishing their history by trying to live up to the hype of their previous achievements. jay-z is like 40 and he makes enough money in investments and promotions that he should be able to just retire already. he doesn’t even rap half as good as how he used to we just hear that hova voice and key phrases he drops with the usual jigga swagger and people sweat his tracks like it was some shit off reasonable doubt. blueprint 3 will likely be no more than another kingdom come or american gangster at best. as for nas, his last album was a disgrace and he is just fighting to keep himself relevant by doing things like naming his album NIGGER when he knows no major label will release it under that name. yeah big controversy, it’s not even racially relevant because you know a major wouldn’t let some main stream white female pop singer release an album with the name BITCH or anything similar (for example). i love both of these rappers and my itunes is filled with the discographies of each of them, but you should know when to throw in the towel.
young jeezy – for an artist who i fell in love with from the get go, he has really declined since that first gangsta grillz mixtape that brought him into the spotlight. i don’t know if any of you have listened to “the recession”, but every beat sounds virtually the same, his tired style and lyrics are washed up (not only the “yeahhh” and all that nonsense, but the metaphors about colors of cars or repetition of lines – call that bitch my body guard, yeah that’s my body guard), and he really only touches on the concept of the album – the economic state of our country – a handful of times which makes it completely irrelevant.

Are you serious? Do you realize how retarded that sounds. All T-Pain does is choruses in autotune. There’s absolutely no talent involved. When he first came on the scene, it was pretty cool, since we had never heard that before. But after two or three songs, you get sick of it.
I personally don’t like Jadakiss, but I don’t think he belongs on the list. Soulja Boy should never have even been a part of hip-hop. Busta Rhymes probably still has a little potential, but for the most part, he’s washed up. Jim Jones and Rick Ross also need to retire. Snoop Dogg needs to retire. 50 Cent should have retired after The Massacre.
Also, just to get one thing straight, I wish people would realize that there IS a huge difference between rap and hip-hop. The only guys on the list that are rappers are Busta Rhymes and Jadakiss. Their genre can be called Rap & Hip-Hop, BUT the other guys like Soulja Boy, Jim Jones and Rick Ross are classified as hip-hop artists; they’re NOT rappers.

A few people on here know my opinion on Jim Jones and his lack of talent so I’ll skip that. T-Pain can be annoying but will somehow make a regular song a banger with a short hook (My brother is listening to All The Above right as I type this) so I’ll give him the props on his talent at that. Everyone else besides 2 people on this list really are irrelevant to me…even though I’ll listen to Rick Ross with no problem.
Jadakiss and Busta…can’t do it, I can’t say they’re trash because they’re not and I can’t say they don’t have good albums because they do. The timing of their albums just seem to be off (Jada more than Busta) but that’s just me.
Kiss can spit at any given time and Busta’s flow is unpredictable that you will almost be surprised every time.
