Alright folks, for today's highly anticipated blog--and I know you've been waiting for it--we're going to try something. Something so fucking amazing, I can't even begin to explain without completely blowing your freaking mind [nomo].
But I'll try it anyways, so everyone remembers MTV's hottest MC's (Part 1, Part 2) in the game list they compiled last year. The list, put on by the "Hip Hop Brain Trust" was hated on by everyone cause well..it sucked.
It sucked because for one, who the fuck named these people the "hip hop braintrust"? 13 MTV employees who, for the most part are well on their way past 30 years of age, sit down in a circle and decide who's hot and who's not. Not to mention there are like 4 chicks in there and we all know females don't know hip hop--they don't know much of anything (vote obama 08')..if they DID know something--they wouldn't be on tv..cause they'd prob be fat and ugly and eating ham all the time.
Anyways, they're doing the hottest MC in the game list once again except this time around, they're going to let fans decide and vote--so I thought to myself..why not use my massive influence and get everyone to vote for some actually GOOD Mcs. Check out the trailer below, you can go here to vote.
While we're at it--here's my list of the hottest 5 Mc's in the Game right now. Keep in mind that this is of my own personal opinion...feel free to share yours.
#5. Young Jeezy:
As of right now, Jeezy's been catching alotta steam--he's getting his Lil Wayne on (nomo) appearing on every god damn remix and surprisingly enough, he's not disappointing much.
#4. Lil Wayne
Weezy only made the top 5 because of his stans, hate it or love it those fuckers are driving force behind everything he does. His buzz seems to be minimal as of late however which doesn't make much sense seeing as he's supposed to be dropping an album next month. That retarded coked up head of his has the formula backwards.
#3. Jay Z/ 50 Cent/ Nas/ TI/ Game
That's right, all of them came in at #3--why?..because I can do whatever I want and because--based on media response--meaning how much attention these guys get from fans and media when they do something noteworthy, they all garner the same amount of buzz. Whether it's Jay Z's bagillion dollar deals, 50's interviews, Nas's ironic controversial marketing campaign for Nigger, TI's forthcoming album, or Game's 3 day jail stint.
#2. Lupe Fiasco
Lupe may not have the amount of success the aforementioned artist's have garnered but his last LP was incredibly well put together and shot up his buzz through the roof. If only he kept consistency up dropping new tracks instead of touring all the time--I guess you gotta go where the money's at.
#1. Kanye West
For the record, I'm not a big Kanye Fan, but you can not deny his skill. If we were basing this list of record sales in hip hop this year, Yey would still be number 1...if we were basing it on record sales in music--then some country singer or r&b singer would prob be kicking all of these guys asses. Anyways, the same said about Lupe can be said about Yey...if he were to consistenly be appearing on tracks, the buzz would be through the roof--however the ones that he does appear on, IE. American Boy, Put on, etc, he always delivers on.
Oh yeah, no one really cares what MTV thinks--they suck anyways.

2. Little Voice – Sara Bareilles; I’m NOT AFRAID to say that “Love Song” IS A VICIOUS TRACK! Again, I love music and this is a well-written, hot album.
3. Rising Down – The Roots; I copped this cd on a GIRL’S recommendation and this joint, my FIRST EVER purchased Roots album, is VERY, VERY GOOD! I especially love track #14: Rising Up. Besides that, there are a whole bunch of bangers… I’m STILL analyzing it, so it may climb up my charts.
4. Lyfe Change – Lyfe Jennings; I’ve always liked life… I’ll always love his 1st album best, but this one IS better than the 2nd… TRACK 7 IS NASTY (COPS UP!)…
5. Undeniable – AZ; I chase A like a drug, wishing he’d put together a COMPLETE album of bangers, but alas, he gave us the usual 3 or 4. Still, a good album: typical AZ, which is great, if you’re a fan, as I am.
6. E=MC^2 – Mariah Carey; This cd has its moments, but it’s not her best album. I think The Emancipation of Mimi was stronger. Thus, the girl still did 400K (DAMN) 1ST WEEK, off the strength of her name! She did IRONMAN (the movie) #s!! And y’all need to STOP hatin’ on her for marrying Nick Cannon; I’m definitely not mad at the boy! And, if she’s feelin’ him, she’s feelin’ him.
7. Beautiful Ballads – Isley Brothers; A compilation “best of” album… Loaded with classics but I’m not necessarily “feeling” it straight through.
8. Mama’s Gun – Erykah Badu; I bought this cd SIMPLY because a friend told me that it was her favorite cd ever. The curiosity KILLED THE CAT, on that one! It’s not bad, but Baduizm is still her best album.
9. River: The Joni Letters – Herbie Hancock; This album beat out Amy’s Back To Black for ‘07 Grammy Album of the Year, so my curiosity was PEAKED… I guess I didn’t see what the committee saw.
10. New Amerykah Part One (4th World Ward) – Erykah Badu; I bought this album on the strength that it was “Erykah”… WORST R&B CD I EVER HEARD IN MY LIFE… PERIOD. This album made both Keyshia and Jill’s (people who dropped albums in 07 who TOTALLY let me down) albums seem like CLASSICS.

So yea Ye would have to be a lock for #1 unless Cash Money putting money in MTV’s pocket to place Wayne there to help promote the Album. Would be a great advertising move if they did but prolly not.
But I forgot Cash Money and Terror Squad got a 100 Billion dollars, so they can by Mars and Venus in a bundle deal :/

1.) His creativeness, persistence and consistency when it comes to making the music is unprecedented in the game right now…
2.) He’s MR. Relevant in the Hip-Hop world right now if you consider him selling the most albums of any rapper in 2007, Providing beats for everyone, and is making so much money(Forbes top 10 hip-hop list.
3.) He’s the only artist that rose from Jay-Z’s shadow and started making his own footsteps in the game…

1)Kanye West- No question, he’s the hottest in the game right now. 3 albums, 3 grammys. You can’t argue that.
2)Lil’ Wayne-Even though he has taken a major fall off as far as quality of lyrics/rhyme in the last 6-8 months and added the vocoder to his list of addictions, Wayne’s buzz is ridiculous. It has just graduated form the mixtape/underground circuit to the pop circuit. Expect the Carter 3 to do big numbers, and probably be this year’s “King(T.I.)” as far as sales in an off year for the industry.
3) T.I.-He ain’t the best in any category, but he makes anthems, kinda like a young Jay. No one said he was the best until he was several albums deep in the game. He is damn near guaranteed to go platinum every time out.
4)Jay/Nas/Game-Jay is coming off yet another successful project(American Gangster)and dropping Blueprint 3, he can do no wrong. Nas is dropping a concept album named “Ni99er,” and the lead single “Be a Ni99er too,” is the most controversial joint to drop since Public Enemy dropped “By the time I get to Arizona.” Based on what I’ve heard from Game recently and given his track record, “L.A.X.,” will prolly be the best album of the year MUSICALLY, and will do well. 3 way tie.
5)Ludacris/Lupe- Luda drops something hot every summer. If You’ve been peepin’ what quality music and verses he’s had on DeFsounds alone, you know he belongs on this list. Lupe is 2 for 2 album wise and going on tour with Ye and Skateboard should further push his name out there. Imagine if he dropped LupEND this year….

Ask me that question 4 months from now after Nas, Game, Busta, Em and hopefully Dre drop. Because right now, no body is really that hot. I mean Kanye did his thing but that was more towards the end of 07 and early 08, now it’s mid 08 and no body really stands out to me at this very moment.
PS: FUCK MTV and their bullshit ass lists. I remember MTV a couple years ago making a list about the 22 greatest rappers of all time and they had the nerve to put Nelly at like #10 or #11 (over Meth, Red, DMX, Run DMC, Chuck D, Snoop, Big Pun….). MTV lost all it’s hip-hop credibility after that bullshit.

This is the list I want to see done again…A list Lil Wayne can’t make.
The best MC’s are consistant in thier approach to the game. Common, Jay, Nas are just a few, who dont sell out to sell albums. Common has always managed to keep himself in Top 5 status becuase every album is different. Not just lyrically, but production wise. Nas is a thinking mans MC. The knowledge he speaks in his songs are unrivaled. Jay( A Fave) does his part by injecting wordplay plus real life experiences to his albums. The Game’s straight dont give a fuck bout you attitude is def reason to give him props.
Now the hottest is defined by one thing- SALES. And if youve got 5 of the most downloaded mixtapes ever, your name is Lil Wayne. And if youre a group with 2 of the “hottest” mixtapes of 08 then youre The Unit. And unfortunately the list is Hottest not best. So yeah hate if you want but Lil Wayne and The Unit are Hot, not the BEST, but Hottest. We all know Cassidy, Jada, Luda, and Loso are worthy of top 5 consideration, but again, and unfortunatley this is a hot list.
Fuck it…ANY Top 5 list without Scarface isn’t even a real list.

1. Wayne – I don’t like em, but the nigga is hawt right now and there is no denying that. Definitley not better then any of the other people on this list, but if you’re defining hot then there isn’t any other choice.

4. 50 cent – All this publicity, and his last mixtape outselling his counter parts album… and not counting the body snatchers prt. 1 this nigga is on fire right now… I’m almost tempted to put em higher but he needs to drop something else.
5. T.I – that no matter what join is serious but a banger at the same time… his jail time provides him with a lot of publicity and the bad blood between him and shawty lo should make for a few good diss songs.

I’ve chosen these rappers/mc’s for their originality, msg in their lyrics, flow and delivery, history and etc. Lupe is moving up for me every day and so is Buck. Eminem and Pac at the number 1 spot because they are the realest, put out a lot of dope material out in a short period of time (and unlike Wayne, they stayed on point/were relavent). I can never get tire of listening to them. It is thanks to them I fell in love with hip hop. Kanye is a great musician/composer/producer, but not the best mc.
