I have really bad timing

by JOKESTA

TUESDAY SEPTEMBER 2, 2008

I've been reading alot about Detox lately--specially since it's supposed to hit stores in the next 30 days, which I highly doubt due to the death of Dre's son (RIP). Anyways, reading about it and checking out the feedback from fans on blogs and message boards one question lingers in the back of my mind.

What's the hype?

Why is everyone anticipating Detox?

Don't get me wrong, I'm a fan of Dre, The Chronic 2001 was a good album, he's a great producer, and definitely has an eye for talent. But as far as rapping goes, what is he, like top 30?

Is it all the ghost writers he has working on  Detox?

Is it the potential collabos with 50 and Eminem that has everyone on the edge of their seats?

I mean, Lil Wayne said he was ghost writing some of Dre's verses, Do you really think you're going to get the same product as The Chronic/2001 from that guy? (Don't front, Tha Carter 3 was a HUGE disappointment).

So what is it exactly that has every god damn hip hop fan waiting for this album like it's the second coming?

Someone put me on to the hype.

By the way, I'm back bitches!, Took a vacation--oh yeah, for the folks that have been on Defsounds for more than year, remember around this time a year ago, we changed everything up?..Guess what's about to happen again..and about to happen again SOON. So if there's something you'd like to see changed..speak now or forever hold your peace.

Oh and one more thing, we recently started posting tracks from Hip Hop's new rainman Charles Hamilton--you know, tryna show some love to the mentally challenged hip hop community. For some reason you folks think we're only posting his bad tracks, umm..we're just posting his latest releases--is it really our fault that they suck?

Now then, here's some ear candy...my favorite track of August:

Dre is something fresh to this era. Hasn't put out an album in so long, and nobody really knows what to expect.

Chamillionaire's track is awesome, by the way. The way he progrsses through a story is similar to Eminem. And you can't tell me that the skit & last verse don't sound like some Marshall Mathers shit.

The mans a legend, thats all it is! Chronic and 2001 were straight classics! its Dr. motherfucking Dre! his my all time OG of hip-hop, the man produces history, i mean he worked with and beefed Eazy-e & Dr.Dre how many people can say that even beefed Biggie, and he has consistently since the 80's been major, he is what i would call the father of Hip-hop! gotta have Cube, Fif, Em & Snoop if they hop on its classified as classic!

DRE is a GENIUS! the man brought out Nas, Em, Snoop, Damn near evry legend and legends to be, NWA co-ceo of Death Row

without Dre theres no:
NWA - ice cube, eazy-e etc.
Death Row: you know who they are Pac, Snoop etc.
The Firm: Nas, Foxy, AZ
Shady: eminem, Obie, D12
G-unit
BWS

now think about how many people all of em influenced, the list is endless

Detox is really hyped up because hip hop needs saving right now. Nas couldn't do it with Untitled, Wayne didn't do it with III, LAX probly wont be the classic everybody wants even tho its a good album, and everbody knows that when Dre releases somethin hes perfected it, and every 7 years he amazes hip hop with what he does. just because hes been gone for 7 years doesnt mean he fell off, it just means hes puttin everything he got in to DETOX

this cd will stay in peoples cars.. everyone knows and respects dre as an artist, no matter who writes for him.. his beats are incredible and hes gonna have a ton of colabs so its almost like a feature album from what we've all heard.. 50, em, jay, nas.. i dont need to go any further.. those 4 right there should put anyone on the hype.

how can u not anticipate it after u listen to 2001. one of the few cds i can still listen to all the way thru. this ones gonna b even better than 01. n at first i thought his sons death was gonna push it back but i think thats gonna give dre even more drive to do his thing plus if he gets it out soon he can dedicate it to his son ya dig

n as far as wayne ghost writing for dre i wouldnt believe that if dre was 85 years old. maybe em... but not wayne lol what a joke. thats like sayin u wanna have dmx handle all ur money... just doesnt make sense. dre writes much better than wayne.

Yo Fo-T Kalibur,
Dre didn't bring Nas out, he was just a contributor on The Firm album, since it was released on his label. M.C. Serch brought Nas out way before that. Remember Nas had Illmatic, and It Was Written, before The Firm album came out. The Firm was Nasir's idea, so had it not been on Aftermath, with Dre's involvement, it would still have come out on another label. So you were wrong in saying Dre brought Nas out, they just collaborated. Aside from the Nas part, good point. And Mos_Real420, "What doesn't make sense" is you saying Dre is a better writer than Lil Wayne. How can someone who has people do his writing for him, a better WRITER than someone who writes his lyrics? Everyone knows Dre's hits are written by ghostwriters. 2 examples, "Still Dre" by Jay-Z, "Forgot About Dre" by Eminem. Now I am not even a Weezy fan, but facts are facts. You should brush up on yours. PEACE Come check out The Livin' Large Morning Show w/ Bobby Livin', and Tony Large Sundays 11am-1pm EST at clubmegamix . com. You'll like it.

All that HGH fucked up Dre's face bad. He looks like a Geico caveman with a fresh shave. Look it up, HGH causes the face bones to morph into neanderthal.

As far as record sales, I'm sure Dre would love the Detox to be a "huge disappointment" like the Carter 3 (platinum in a week).

Until then, I'll be listening to The Recession cuz that album is fuckin nice. I'm actually anticipating Jada's album more than Detox.

First off, Dre IS a Legend in this game just not for his rappin. Its for his composition of music that makes him great. But some of yall givin him to much credit. Some youngsta above is stated as sayin Dre's the reason we know NaS, 2Pac, Ice Cube & Eazy. Well Eazy was the Mastermind behind NWA not Dre. If anything we wouldnt know Dre if it wasn't 4 Eazy.. Ice Cube's most sucessful albums had nothing to do wit Dre not to mention he was written EVERYBODY'S lyrics in NWA.. Pac was platinum before Death Row..
and NaS was platinum wit "It Was Written" which featured only 1 Dre track.. We anticipatin Detox cuz Dre always pioneers a new sound that we all love. He's the Quincy Jones of rap, but who wants to actually hear Quincy Jones RAP??!!

The Dre's albums r very highly anticipated because he always has classic bangers on his albums that become timeless. that u can bump some of his shit from the chronic and have these youngster bobbing there heads like damn this is nice, but as far as rapping yea i must agree he is not that great and what i consider a great album where i dont have to skip a track is East 1999 Bone Thugs till this day i bump.

The hype is this: He's the greatest producer of all-time...no discussion point blank, and his album and the production along with the collabos (cuz you know erybody gon wanna be on it) will be insane, and the album will sell. On top of all that, the album will be a fresh new look for hip-hop and where it stands right now...Learn it.

about time theres a site with some sort of sence
"Don't front, Tha Carter 3 was a HUGE disappointment"
completely agree
if wayne is apparently 'ghost writing some of dres verses' i dont belive ill be buying it
i wont be able to listen to such a legendary rapmogul spittin the rhymes a no-talent R&B singer (t-wayne) writes for him..
just wont happen
but im pretty sure the Doctor has more sence then to let wayne ghost write for him

The hype is because the man's a legend.
Like everyone else said, The Chronic & 2001 we're classics.
And because of the time that he puts in between all of his albums is what makes it even more anticipated. Some rappers drop albums like every 2 years, maybe more maybe less, but i don't think that there are any rappers that do it in like 9 years between them, that's a lot of time man.
Plus he also has said that he won't be talkin about lowriders and blunts and all that anymore, wich makes us wonder what it is going to be about.
That's what all the hype is about, but right now, the man is in a lot of pain and stress, he's lost his son and everyone keeps talkin about Detox, we can't even imagine how he must feel like right now, so stop all the questions about his album and let the man take his time.

The reason i think err1 is impatiently waiting on dre is because...I mean common its fucken dre!!!!How many albums has dre produced that are must haves???I bet95% of the ppl on this site have an album in thier stack that includes at least two classics produced by dre or a downloaded one at least.(sighs)Nowadays the word "classic" gets thrown around loosely and jokestas opinion about 2001 not being a classic is just that. Its an opinion.Lets have a show of hands of the ppl that think 2001 is a bonafide classic(nomo).U see there,I knew ud all agree. Now just take a look at the good doc's resume and ask urself if thiers any reason not to be anticipating Dr.Dre's new album???Dont worry ill wait...Yet and still to see one bloggers opinion being presented and all of a sudden u get all the "ive felt like this for a long time ,or "I completley agree" comments ,Just like when jokesta explained he was a jeezy fan and now the tone has significantly changed on this site when it comes to jeezy material.Come on ppl think for yourselves.Or better yet listen to me cause this shit right here is gospel.SIKE!!!Just make sure u break bread and go get the album from an actual music retailer this time. But even if all the buzz is not understood it is what it is BUZZZZ!!!!Jokestas blog just contributes to it, and i know there is gonna be a non bias review on this album when it drops. If at all possible. So once again go get some o.t. put ur change in that piggy bank or hit up ur B.M.'z for the relish u need to purchase Detox
