Dear 50 Cent, It's 2009
by on January 6th, 2009
Dear 50,
Hi, this is the year 2009--I'm new in town but I'm still pretty well known. Anyways, I wanted to write you and see if you'd like to meet up some time, kick back a few, and catch up on some things. I don't want to sound like a complete douche-bag writing this and I just want to say, first and foremost, I'm a big fan of yours. I mean, not as big as 2003, 2004, 2005, and 2006 were, but don't think I'm just hating to hate.
I just heard your latest single, "I Get It In," produced by Dr. Dre and I gotta say---are you completely unaware of the reception this kinds of tracks coming from you have been getting lately?
Remember Get Up?..yeah..neither do we. You said with this album, you were going to have to reinvent yourself. So why are you continuously trying to create another "In Da Club"?
You know a reason why 03,04,05, and 06 liked you was because you were original, seemingly diverse, and you managed to turn hardcore New York rap into commercial success like say, Biggie.
07 wasn't really too fond of you, Curtis wasn't that good an album, you took some L's with Buck and your team took major L's with T.O.S.--even though that album was actually pretty good.
Speaking of T.O.S., where's the aggression you and your team said you were bringing back to New York with your releases. Get Up and I Get It In have as much aggression as a French hair stylist.
Anyways, my point is--it seems that you're following a formula that obviously no longer works. It seems like you're tryna recreate or outdo GRODT. Personally, I don't think that'll ever happen. There are very few rappers who have been able to top their first LPs, and you so far--aren't one of em.
I invite you to come join me--you're living in the past and it's time to move forward and try something new. Or perhaps, it's time to stop with the fuckery and record some good music, not some cheesy attempt at another club single. Ironically enough, your name is a metaphor for change--which you apparently want no part of.
As, Rizoh over at The Rap Up so eloquently put it, "Alas, this leaky leak track (supposedly from Before I Self Destruct) is Boo Boo’s 1,357th attempt at an “In Da Club” sequel. Really, what’s not to like about Fif exhibiting his lyrical ingenuity over a $20 dollar beat he bought from SoundClick.com."
Sincerely,
- 2009

i mean make up ur mind
do u see the producers? the majority of them produce grimey beats which 50 sounds best on
come on now..
..ight im done now lol
Food for thought – CAN ‘EM AND DRE PUT FIDDY ’BACK AT THE TOP’ LIKE THEY DID WHEN HE DROPPED ‘IN THA CLUB’ AND DO 19 WEEKS AT NUMBER 1????
Or will their ‘blessings’ only be ‘barely enough’ to regain ‘some respect’ from the industry and fans????
-debate….
Its No Way I Can Defend Him If He Can’t Make A Hit Album Again
If This Album Isnn’t Hot You Gotta Drop Him From The Top Artistwise
You’re the perfect example of a fan justifying bad music with money. That’s like saying stop hating on Kwame Brown he makes 10 million a year. That doesn’t take away from the fact that he plays NBA ball at a JV high school level. 50 being a fucking trillionare makes up for the album Curtis??
When niggas say they want another GRODT, they don’t mean literally an identical album. They mean music of the same caliber. I agree with Jokesta, Fif is trying waaaaaay too hard to make another In Da Club. He should just make something that comes naturally instead of trying to re-create a classic. Some albums you just can’t top, period! I don’t think Nas to this day has topped Illmatic, but the nigga still made great albums after it. Same with Jay, I think Reasonable Doubt is by far his best album, but he also has like 6 other great albums. Fif just needs to make some original shit.
And I kind of agree with what this dude be sayin …….. BUT…..
Ya’ll probably didnt fuckin like Lollipop when it came out … didnt ya’ll ??
I know I didnt …. but it just made the fuckin album sell a millie in a week .
I know this single aint a good look to Fif … but it has a really big chance to catch the main audience ….. the Lil Wayne and Kanye West audience ….
I’m telling ya’ll … if this shit hits the top 10’s stays there for a long time and 50 releases some street shit …. all will be forgoten and 50 gonna sell 10 millie all over again.
GET IT IN is the first 50 single i have liked since GRODT
the beat from dre is fucking bad news, 50 is average as usual, but its catchy and seriously that beat is too dope not to bump it…
LOL at DefSounds….
TOS>Beg for Mercy
At best, BISD might be equal to MASSACRE – don’t believe the ‘hype’.
for real?
beg for mercy was the shit
tos was dec
“That’s not “gangsta”. Remember 15 year old girls don’t comprehend these things. Just look what type of dudes females date and ask yourself “where does 50 fit in”..
Females is feeling the Kanye type or for some fucked up reason a gremlin with tatoos on his face. Super-safe to fuckin crazy. So where does 50 fit in? Where does a dude rockin ecko and pelle pelle fit in? He doesn’t. That guy had his shine. Now people’s taste have change.
The reason why I bring up females is cause they have hi-jacked music. Lol if they aint dancing at your house party you better throw on some ying yang twins or lollipop, and we as dudes are fightin our ears and penis at the same time. Penis wins hands down.
I fucks with 50 and I just want him to get back to the top, but between sales and buzz I don’t think he can get that again. Oh and remember TRL and BET used to be the shit. Now nobody watches it. The game is all fucked up.
^^LMFAO! Real talk.
“Lol well she’s 15 and can’t help that she listens to bad music. I guess this is a good thing cause I’d be suspicious if she was listen to “shake that ass, bitch and let me see what you got”.. Maybe its a great thing she listens to miley cyrus.
I’ve always wondered if you changed “shake” to “taste” would it still be a hit?!
“Taste that ass, bitch! And let me see what you got!” Lol now that’s a song I could fucks with. Porn reference for the slow niggas.
Have you seen the knowledge that flows through the comments of DS? It’s no better then a kindergartner.
Nice letter though, 2009.
Now to argue for fifty I personally can’t see any rapper in the game held to the same standards and expectations that he is held to. Not even Eminem and Dre with there new albums have the same expectations that fifty is held to. Say what you want but its more so people hoping and comparing everything to GRODT instead of Fifty actually trying to recreate it and you for 1 are also guilty of this. His newest single man actually read the replys on this site along for it, all but the usual haters are supporting it and have nothing but good things to say how can you say the reviews are bad?
In before getting called a dick rider etc etc, save yourself the trouble and just fuck off lol
G-unit has been going hard, and 50 always gives it his all, What more do you want from an artist?
Good Fucking Work
a damn genius
It was all about money. Didn’t he get 300k and go straight back to the block?! Rappin was something he did and happened to be good at. Now he probably loves rappin, but some like Nas who couldn’t do anything else will always be better than a guy who does somethin cuz he’s good at.
50’s passion is money.
Nas’s passion is being a dope mc.
The same thing that makes 50 immature is the same thing that makes him great. He is petty, he’s a hater, he’s a hustler and that shit is funny to me. Makes him interesting.
Imagine if you out with a girl and some dude tries to holla at her in front of you. He tells her that you are a lame for wearing Saucony’s lol.
So once again you guys are out and this dude comes up and he has on Saucony’s lol. Your girl ends up breaking up with you right there and going home with that guy.
But he’s wearing the Saucony’s that he told your girl were “lame”.
Lol that’s called “hate” and that’s what 50 did to Ja Rule. Gotta love that, couldn’t make that type of shit up if u tried.
First of all… name 3 commercial singles out of new york (or east coast) that are hotter than ‘get up’ or ’ i get it in’? Dont worry…Ill wait.
Name any undisputed top 10 GOAT emcee that dropped nothing but hot albums their whole career? LL Cool J, Rakim, Biggie, Jay Z, Nas, Tupac, Snoop, Big Pun, Eminem…..
None of them have done it….so why the hell do you expect 50 to drop classic albums every time?? No artist can do that.
Bottom line, 50 consistently comes out with hot music. You cant expect everything to be bangin all the time…but he’s consistent.
-I dont think you can deny 50 and his crew had the hottest mixtapes in ‘08.
-You cant deny that every album 50 dropped (except maybe curtis) was hotter and sold more than most above average MC’s (especially out of new york).
-You cant deny that ‘Get up’ and ‘I get it in’ are hot tracks. who gives a damn if they are club tracks. Find a commercial rapper that doesnt have at least on club track on their album…and ill bet 50’s club tracks are probably better. He’s not trying to duplicate ‘in the club’…he’s just making a new club track for us to bump in the whip or grind to in the club. nothin wrong wit that.
what ….are artist entitled to only one club track ever, and then they have to “re-invent” themselves? theres only so many topics an artist like 50 can talk about…so let him do what he do, and just enjoy the music. I bet next time your in the club and one of 50’s new tracks comes on, you’ll be nodding your head or doing your wack lil two step to it like everybody else…so stop hating, and just enjoy good music for what it is.
ol’ bytch azz hatin azz nicca…
listen to 50s music and u cant deny that he doesnt drop hot tracks. fuck all the haters on 50.. he be back soon
Get Up in my opinion was below par for 50, i think he really needs to move in a different direaction or do somethin more natural and put out some new singles that will really hav ppl jumpin. he got two choices, he can either go reall gangsta and appeal to the hood or he can do somethin lyk kanye (not exactly with the fuckin auto tune) and try and appeal to the masses but i think for him this would be much harder.
stop hatin bitch
Just Chill Shit
Too much hatin like this is all u do
I Dont always comment on this shit but it just got fuckin anoying
OK IM DONE NOW
But 50 with Busta Rhymes also has a liquor line coming out. Which explains references to liquor throughout the song. A lot of people DOnt know that this is promoting that also
Of course you’re going to get the gangsta shit from 50. Thats on the album. Gotta download or hear the album to get that. But as far as gangsta street singles, which wont do much on the charts. INTERSCOPE IS NOT HAVING THAT
It’s club pop shit that I’ll bump for a little, but not something I’ll remember you for so step it up take that single to the cd and pop off a song from your album that will leave bloggers with arthritis.
supportt the livin legends we do have and embrace the real and the real talented niggas on the come up. it’s 09 i’m tryin to hear some hip-hop
get it in is a pretty good song
i dont like 50 cent anymore, used to with grodt, by time he dropped massacre i stopped liking him, hes made a few decent songs (baltimore love thing, ill still kill, build you up, ski mask way) but overall his music has been lacking since he ‘made it’
I hate that fagot
Now, if I remember correctly, 50 Cent’s net worth is over 500 million dollars. I’d say that dude knows what the fuck he’s doing. So Jokesta, before you go questioning other people’s motives, you should ask yourself how much money you have…then proceed to shut the fuck up.
nobody buys music legally anymore
anywayz stop talkin shit bout how oh 50 needa stop tryna recreate in the club and make some hood street shit.
like shut up cuz this song is hot! who cares if its a club joint! the ppl in the club, like the bitches and white ppl and whoever else, are the ppl that are gonna buy his album! so he’s smart. cuz i i bet if he did make nuttin but street shit yall bum ass niggas wuddnt even go out and cop it.ud just d/l dat shit.
hov!
