The end of New Industry?
by on March 6th, 2008
I know, I know, most of you are like who? Well, I don't blame ya, but Belly's got the scoop son, check it!
So, you MAY have heard of St Laz. He's this old head that is the "flagship artist" on New Industry records. He had mixtapes all over DatPiff and they all had tens of thousands of plays. He's also notorious for the whole "St Laz vs [insert popular artist]" mixtapes. The mixtapes were also notorious for having a CRAPLOAD of positive comments.
You may notice I said "had" and "were". Yesterday New Industry had a mixtape on DatPiff - - the first in a while. Within the hour the mixtape had over 5,000 plays and anyone with half a brain could see that's pure bullshit. You see, New Industry is also known for faking their stats to make them seem bigger than they really are.
I ask you: how do relative unknowns get as much play as say... a Lil Wayne or G-Unit? They don't, and they've been called out on it in the past.
Anyways, later on in the day, the play count on said mixtape dropped to a measly 300, downloads dropped to 100 and most of the comments were deleted. There was also a comment or two (one even by the admin) about New Industry faking plays and downloads.
So today Belly logs on to not only find that the mixtape in question is gone, but so is EVERY mixtape on the site relating to St Laz and from what I can see, New Industry as a whole.
"Wow", I think. "I guess DatPiff had enough", and as if to complete the conspiracy, an email blast goes out maybe an hour later with a diss track to "Fluke Industry" and "St Ass". Who's it by? Some more nobodies, but beef is beef right? Listen closely, you can basically hear everything Belly has just told you.

Our fearless leader Jokesta forwarded this email to me.
You guys think he-mad?...Yeah He-mad. Lets not forget the last Defsounds had beef with some tard.

I build companies through mutually beneficial partnerships. Such partnerships create the strongest, sustainable, industry changing businesses.
Recent events & allegations caused me to question the risk / benefit of working with DatPiff, so earlier today we respectfully requested that Marcus remove all our material from his web properties. Mr. Belly’s spin that “DatPiff finally had enough” made me smile.
Our actions and true intentions ultimately control our destiny – I would rather risk trying to create than sit back and spin stories about others to entertain my readers. Thankfully we all have a choice about how we spend our time.
As for DJ D-MOB’s comments. New Industry representatives may have spoken when they shouldn’t have about a pending deal with DatPiff. Marcus’ broker and I made several attempts to negotiate a purchase deal however we couldn’t reach an agreement that was equitable to both sides.
D-MOB: I have helped Laz explore his label options and have advised him that staying the course with New Industry offers the best financial risk / reward ratio. I assure you New Industry is alive, well and prospering.
I love hip hop music, the realness of the culture and I am blown away by the dedication, drive, & talent I’ve seen in so many independent artists. Therein lies my inspiration.
The true measure of my success is the scope of opportunities and financially self-reliant, collaborating business owners I help create. Spitting hate and disrespect never serve the greater good.
Blessings & Respect, I wish you all continued success.

new compilation coming soon from atg….featuring “we can settle it”
I’m a dude who did six years in jail,I’m from the worst part of nyc,I’ve sold damn near every drug and ive seen and done a lot but where and how does that make me a hot rapper?it dosent.what makes me a hot rapper is the fact that practiced rapping for years and years and studied all the greats from melly mel to nas,I put in thousands and thousands of hours of listening to good hip-hop,I gave myself a strong foundation,I set my standards high as they can go.nowadays, anybody can be considered nice,a few lines about ya car, some bars about ya gun and few punchlines about ya money and "abracadabra"your a hot rapper.90% of the artist me consider rap stars have no substance in their music whatsoever, they aint saying shit,to me they sound like how adults sound to charlie brown in the cartoon.I don’t feel these dudes,I can’t wait for nas to drop his next album,I know he will have some crack on there that a true rap fanatic like me will enjoy but is this what the game has come to?where u gotta wait like 2 years for one rapper out of a thousand to drop sutin that’s worthy of listening to?
Real rap exists still but its so hidden,so ignored its disgusting, all these so called ogs in the game deserve a good smack, they should feel its their duty to find and expose true artist, good artist, everybody says hiphop is dead or the game is over but what are they doing to help the situation?if I was jay-z,nas,prodigy,dre,50 or any of these dudes,I would be hunting for that true talent, that true feel again, fuck signing who’s making noise in the clubs downsouth or who’s beefing on corny street dvds promoting black death,I would be lookin for the next breath of fresh air in this polluted ass game, these dudes have the power to change things and they know it,they just don’t want the responsibility and that’s a damn shame, luckily st.laz and pottersfield are here to save the entire world or we would be doomed, when you hear the name “new industry” know that we are way more than a bunch of rappers and producers making music for fun or money,we are the elite, true rap fans that are severley pissed off with the state of the game and are sworn to do somthing about it,make sure you check out the new mixtape"bullets over broadway" by dj fade and boy bucka" its some true fire “shit” on there, one love to all my fans, friends and family, lets bring this shit back together, one “electric relaxation” at a time.
St.laz the patron of the poor.
P.S I DONT HAVE A ACCOUNT WITH DEFSOUNDS SO I HAVENT POSTED ANY RESPONSES WHATSOEVER,DUDES CAN BELIEVE THAT OR NOT,WHO CARS,WE OUT FOR MILLIONS.
Any track dat I have of the prick has now been deleted. Like I said, as a music fan I don’t let artist ego’s and beef decide who I listen to but what St. Laz did was break the code of ethics that any artist lives by.
I actually feel sorry for those New Industry cats becuase y’all really fucked up any chances of respect anyone will ever have for you.
And if any one hear does work for or have connections with Dat Piff, tell them they missed 2 mixtapes “It’s More Than Music” and “Sweet Dreams”. Makes me sick to even still see them there. Real artists make music and the music makes the numbers. Somewhere in your greed for money and your blind ego to pull the wool over “true hip hop listeners” you entered a area of no return. Fuck New Industry.
Kryme you said it yourself……Would you listen to any music you listen to If you didn’t see a wave others listening to it? most likely not because how would you know about that artist? You can see it as you being duked outa what ever right you think you have as a HipHop fan but the plain truth is you download music like everybody else you goto Datpiff looking for free music and you gravitate to what everyone else gravitates to. The reason you Have Laz records on your computer is because you thought he was hot due to his play statistics? Than you are more misled than you know my dude. And if you are a True HipHop Listener as you claim to be than the numbers equation would have never entered into your brain in the first place.
I DONT CARE ABOUT DOWNLOADS AND LISTENS ,ALL I CARE ABOUT IS THE TAPE BEING SEEN AND PROMOTED ON A MAJOR SCALE,THATS WHY ITS CALLED “GORILLA PROMO”
What is Papoose doing right now? 50 Cent? Prodigy with the Saigon video? and countless other artists.
Manipulating fans opinions and views
I’m not making comparisons to those artists, just look at the tactics being used.

NEW INDUSTRY
Www.MySpace.Com/IntouchSoundStudio
I have never been to the site or heard his music and probably never will but I tell you I will never knock another brother’s hustle. I often hear the call by the hip hop industry of not “not knocking someone’s hustle” yet it is a common practice among artist and fans alike.
Let’s get 1 thing straight, numbers on Dat Piff are NOT record sales so please come back to planet earth with your obviously unintelligent comment of ‘numbers equation’. Da numbers equation relates to people WITH a record deal, their predicted sales, the cost of 1 sale, the revenue from that and how much to be recouped. Da numbers on Dat Piff are supposed to express the merit of an artist’s music. When someone hears it and likes it, dey spread the word around, den more people listen and the artist gets feedback/recognition.
What you/New Industry/St.Laz did, was fake those numbers. It’s like taking an exam and cheating or a sports star taking steroids and winning gold. U did the most unethical thing an artist could do and that was cheat any fanbase you had.
And yes, if an artist is getting lots of listens, then that tells me dat there must be summin people like. How do u expect artists to get rocognition if people DON’T gravitate towards what the masses are??? The difference here is that the props you gave yourself YOU DIDN’T DESERVE. U didn’t work half as hard for the recognition u got. The amount of people that listen to an artist is the measuring scale for this industry unfortunately. Whether me as an individual thinks it’s shit or others thinks it’s shit, if then numbers equate, than it’s a hit. In Finance it’s profit and loss accounts and balance sheets, n if it’s shotting den it’s da number of peeps dat by from 1 shotta. I’m giving you an example from 1 extreme to another. If he got good shit den lots of peeps would go to the shotter. It may not always be the case but it’s the measuring stick. But your not even on that level. The only music u had to make was good music to show ur talent, and flood everywhere so that the masses could judge whether u r as good as u claim u r. The fact u had to cheat on such a small time scale tells me homie, dat u ain’t confident in ur own product.
When I see a new artist on Dat Piff with hits, hell yeah I will check them out cause they must be doing summin right. I may not like them, but they deserve to be listened to a few times to see because I assume the DESERVE those numbers. You didn’t. If you want exposure you need to work for it like everyone else in the industry. So please don’t tell me what type of fan I am or not. I listen to people with relatively no hits on Dat Pif like Ankh Amen Ra, THO and Young De, Custom Made, Pr1me and even Pap, Uncle Murda, Maino etc. before they got caught between underground and mainstream. I found out bout Red Cafe n Grafh through Dat Piff. If dey are gonna show me a product of their work which I can see has their full 100% effort in there then I will listen. But to fake it….nah homie dats wrong.
I actually work in the finance departments of one of the biggest global industries. I see artists come and go, but they work hard for their praise and criticism. Dey don’t take shortcuts, they just take cuts n bleed for their shit. I know cause I’ve seen artists demolished by execs, only to rise higher than dey could imagine. Hip hop artists, DJ’s, Metal Bands, Indie bands, punk, SKA, classical, reggae, u name it I done seen dem fall and rise again. My only advice to you and your organisation is that by defending ur case without some sort of appology to your fans and the other artists scrapping to get recognised, your only looking to dig your grave deeper. N even then u guys still disgust me for your actions.
It’s funny Laz, had SO many mixtapes last year but Joe Budden summed you up perfectly on “5th Gear” off Mood Muzil 3 which is arguabley the best moxtape of 2007: – “Used to be you strive for something to achieve shit/ Nowadays just say shit, these niggas will believe it”
You obviously are not familure with the “Industry” because it does not exsist as it once did, To be honest its over no more record deals no more records to be sold jus go look at a Best Buy,Walmart,Kmart ect. and see the space they set aside for cd’s….the “Industry” is dead. Internet is the NEW INDUSTRY the Underground is the Mainstream now the Independents will become the Majors its a fact you need to relize this. Everyone knows marketing tactics are used over and over by major Corporations throughout time to achieve the bottom line. "When I see a new artist on Dat Piff with hits, hell yeah I will check them out cause they must be doing summin right. " your words again and you admited to having Laz records on your hardrive but you didnt pay for them they were free for you to listen to but all of a sudden because of this situation you decided the records you enjoyed enough to download cease to be nice to you so how did the music change? It hasn’t but you did because in this world everyone is lookin to angry and upset about somthing its your right as a Fan to choose the artists to listen to, but dont act like you are owed appoligies because of choices you make about the records and artists you choose to listen to. NEW INDUSTRY makes music we will do what is needed to be done to have the music available to who ever wants to hear it there is nobody choosing what you like or dislike that choice remains yours. Turn on BET or MTV see if they give you that same choice….remember you can choose to turn the station. Everyone gets wrapped up in Hate issues these days which is the reason we all in this in the first place its about the Music always remember that its about the music.
PS, check dis shit out on dis page, nobody cares bout New Industry anymore or at all entirely, so st. laz.. I mean RuGGeD One, ur discussion is done… feel free to reply but i’mma do sum real life stuff…
For the record this is not Laz and like I previously stated everyone has a choice in what they listen to, no one is forcing any of this in you ears lets be real. If you want to open your mind and begin to choose your own path than I encourage you to do so. Hate is a disease that has ruined HipHop and the culture as a whole you keep using terms like “we” dont wanna hear this anymore or “nobody” cares are you part of or head of a particular group of people? or are you just perpetuating Hate towards freedom of choice? It is very simple to not respond and look elsewhere but you are the individual who chooses to participate in this. I suggest people start to be themselves and not follow trends make your own choices in life not ones that you feel you should because thats whats happening at the time.
Take it in or dont NEW INDUSTRY will continue to make music for people who can step away from the collective and choose for themselves. But we we will always provide you with that option.

RIP New Industry. 2008.

lol,he suckd… but the way he promoted it wernt bad, its actually kinda smart, coz i wud neva of clickd on it, i only did coz i saw the numba of listens, n i was like whats the hype about? found out nothing!
oh yh datpiff i think i found another guy dats doin em fake listens!!! his on the Hot This Week list! ooops i snitched
Yeh I admit I had the St. Laz vs G-Unit/Jay-Z and Wayne mixtapes cause I wanted to see what the fuss was about. The music did change since ur admittance of falsely playing the industry because you gave yourselves props without letting the people decide for you. You made out you were summin’ special without letting your skills show for that. If you cannot understand the simple reasoning of ethics then this convo is done. Free or not, you broke the code and that my friend makes your music as worthless as the megabites I stored them on. I appologise for mistakes I make because I am a man and I show no weakness, not even to my ego. YOUR company however I cannot say the same for. The fact that you lied to the hip-hop nation that you rely upon to feel your music is damn cowardly. Rather than face criticism you ran and hid behind fake numbers. That my friend is the pinnacle of a damn coward and for that you owe it to the people to give them an appology. If you believe ur shit was dat hot u wouldn’t need to spend so much time faking numbers but spend more time promoting it through legit ways. U look at legit artists like Cashis or Joell Ortiz, who ain’t even dropped a major album, dey getting noticed cause of their skills. Dey don’t need to fake numbers I’m sorry, I aggree with DJ D-Mob on this. It’s done, New Industry is dead and hip-hop lives.
@ 2muchgossip
First of all only bitches gossip so why you would have that as your name is beyond me because I’m giving you the benefit of the doubt to be a man. Second, if you address me, make sure you get your facts straight and have some degree of education behind it cause from your comment I feel you have neither. If you would like to quote my words of wisdom, feel free to do so but please do it correctly. Not once have I said that I was/am/will be a St.Laz fan or a New Industry fan. I said I’m a hip-hop fan. Out of the 1716 CD’s I have stored on my computer 3 mixtapes were St.Laz VERSUS other artists, which is 0.2% of my collection. All dat proves to me was the hype was shit. Please refrain yourself from masturbating over the your imagination of people “risking the fact of getting your harddrive to crash to fit his music into your computer”. Don’t believe the hype, star.
The fact your defending him shows me that YOUR the follower because you can’t even make a decision on summin you know is morally wrong. Listening to an artist does not mean all of a sudden anyone is feeling them ‘hardbody’. Get off dat homo shit and please, once again refrain your excitement from someone actually listening to your shit. Not only do you sound desperate, but pathetic too. I’ve listened to Damani, don’t think much of him. I’ve listened to Convinced, don’t think much of him. AND I’ve listened to St. Laz n to be honest, I didn’t think much of him cause of the swagger jacking of a Diplomats flow…..n 4 da record I don’t like Cam either. YET if the artist were to make a GOOD track (Convinced – I Do it for the People, Cam’s ‘Get Em Daddy’ etc) I will have the track. I would call you a yellow back nigga and a puppet for just being on the New Industry payroll and not being man enough to actually grow a spine and stand for any form of ethics, so please, before you even try to slander someone else, put your foolishness to the side and take a look at yourself long and hard and see if you can respect what you view. I give you the benefit of the doubt this time.
“The music did change since ur admittance of falsely playing the industry” your words again, the music didnt change you did…jus quit my dude you continue to prove you are a band wagon passenger no matter how long your replies are.
Ok on some grown man real talk shit…
I’m the CEO of Royaltee Ent. and we’ve released at least 20 mixtapes on datpiff that are of great quality but at this time our highest play count is about 10,000. Thats just being out there grinding and promoting the music and hoping that ppl respect what we’re doing. Yeah no doubt it would be nice to be “hot this week” but cheating for it isn’t something I would do to attain it.
Now i’ve seen St. Laz mixtapes on datpiff. I never listened but I thought his cover work was nice and the theme of his tapes was smart. So for that REASON ALONE I thought he was getting his plays.
Honestly, I was gonna put together a S tha Mogul vs (whoever) mixtape hoping to get some more plays.
Cheating is wrong and thats all it comes down to end of the day.
Now Laz got reps and shit out here defending cheating…wtf is up with that!?!??!
The public has spoken. New Industry is done and St. Laz career has never existed.
this is the end laz…people please stop talking about new industry pay roll n such…aint no money behind the company and aint no money behind laz…period. not one artist on “new industry” gets paid…in my opinion new industry just a way for laz to scam dudes on myspace.

Alexander III, was an ancient Greek678 king (basileus) of Macedon (336–323 BC). He was one of the most successful military commanders in history, and WAS UNDEFEATED IN BATTLE. By the time of his death, he had conquered most of the world known to the ancient Greeks.
