No…I’m almost certain they would still be rapping. There are only a handful of rappers that REALLY have enough influence in rap to change the style/direction of where it goes/going and I’m convinced that their attempt to let new artists develop on their own is a form of ignorance. There’s no guidance from the elders of hip hop other than for them to come around once in a while and make an album.

The sad fact is that our beloved rap is controlled by people who don’t appreciate it like the people who were runnin’ it at the begining…boys at Def Jam used to listen to nothing but rap…that’s it! People who run rap now listen to it at the office cause they have to but in their cars/ipods they’re listening to country and pop.

When hip hop was good, we had so many diffrent forms of artist, that if u ddnt like one flavor, u could pik another. That was when origonality ruled and fans utilized their own minds. Nowadays, whatever these yungins are told is hot…thye consider hot. Listen to the rhyme yall! ODB symbolized individuality, freedom and passion. Its a lost art today. DAMN!
