Lil Wayne Sued For Rolling Stones Copyright Breach
by on July 25th, 2008
Abcko Music Inc., the musical publishing company that owns the rights to the Rolling Stones'
song "Play With Fire", sued rapper Lil Wayne on Thursday. They have accused Wayne, his artistic collaborators and his record company, a
unit of Universal Music Group, of copyright infringement and unfair
competition.
"Playing with Fire" is a clear derivative of the Rolling Stones song with the original lyrics and music altered in a recognizable way, Abkco said in its lawsuit. In one example, the lawsuit said a lyric from the Stones song is "But don't play with me, 'cause you're playing with fire," and the Lil Wayne version has the line, "But you can't blame me if I set this stage on fire."
Abkco also said that Lil Wayne's version uses "explicit, sexist and offensive language" and could lead the public to believe the company and the Rolling Stones approved of and authorized the new version.
No specific information regarding the amount of damages being sought, but it is safe to assume that it will be in the millions.

He’s constantly in some shit…
He sold a-millie and probably wont see any money off of the album.

Kicking “white corporate” America out of the record business is gonna leave the industry pretty fuckin empty dont you think?
And it isn’t like Wayne to steal lines? Didn’t that nigga repeat a whole Aaliyah (sp) verse in a song?
that’s messed up though, tryin to take his money for somethin that sounds almost similar. that is some bullshit.
the song is 50 years old…
guitar and drums aren’t too similar, but they are…
and the diamonds and clothes lines are EXACTLY the same, and the fire…come on…no way whoever produced this song didn’t use the stone’s song for inspiration…
come on people, its common sense, and its free
and i bet wayne didn’t know…his high ass walked into the studio, heard the beat, and loved it…
you can’t blame his PR, managers, etc… HIS ASS HIRED THOSE PEOPLE!!!!
come on now, you can’t tell me Jay doesn’t have somebody that makes sure shit is cleared and doesn’t plagiarize anything before it comes out?
ignorance is no excuse when it comes to the people WAYNE hired to PROTECT HIM!!!!!!!!!
LMAO. WOW

wayne is enlightening
and if there was an actual copyright breach his wife would have sued over it.. Despite how evil people think she is she is a very business smart women..
