Kanye West's Short Film To Be Released In September
by on August 17th, 2009
Critically acclaimed rapper Kanye West will soon be making his acting debut in a short film directed by Spike Jonez.
West and Jonez previously teamed up for the rapper's 'Flashing Lights' video and were keen to do something else together.
Earlier this year, word broke out that the two teamed up for yet another video--this time for West's See You In My Nightmare featuring Lil Wayne.
Jonez's producing partner shed some light on the project stating that though the song is used in the film, it's not necessarily a video for the track.
"They've teamed up again, but this time, it's for a short film," Vincent Landay told MTV News.
"It's not necessarily [a video for 'Nightmares'], but the song is featured in it. We're still editing it right now, it's probably going to run between 10-15 minutes. ... Essentially, we've been editing it whenever we had time — it'll be a couple of weeks on and then a couple of weeks off. ...
Nobody's making any money on it, so it's sort of like, 'Hey, let's get in there and edit on night and weekends.' "
The project is officially titled, 'We Were Once a Fairytale,' and will be available via Itunes on September 8th (09).
West plays himself drunk at a nightclub in the short, which ends with the rapper having sex in a back room and then passing out.
