yeah sampling is cool when you do it every once and a while, but this is like every hit song by kanye right here that is heavily made from samples. seomtimes you gotta make your own shit, keep the game original.

im glad he be usin samples from other songs…cuz it keeps music alive by reinvinting (spell check) in a different way and genre. It turns music that most ppl may have forgot about into sumthin creative. And Kanye won’t deny sampling songs all tha time (they got vids wit him in tha studio listenin to off tha wall shit, u think was normal) Btw this was basically a complation of this niggas greatest hits…“spaceship” and “never let me down” is my all time favorites from Kanye. Oh and u wud know all this shit dat they showed in this video if u read the production credits…he gives the credits to all the original songs so….yea…..

In a way its cool how he can sample older songs and make them his own. Not his newer stuff though. I wanna hear more College Dropout type music from Kanye. That album was his best in my view.

Kanye never said he doesn’t sample. In fact, I specifically recall him saying that he spent hours listening to records and old material in the studio before ‘Graduation’.

Plus, while some of the samples may still be fairly well-known, a LOT of them aren’t. At least not to the relatively younger generation. Given how past people play and dispose of music nowadays, sampling is probably the best way to keep some music alive.

Crazy cuz i was just on www.WhoSampled.Com all weekend and they have every artist that has sampled and i was just checkin it all out. Kanye’s a genius. Sampling is genius. These Beats are Fire. Kanye is a Super Producer and his samples just add more flavor to the his music. “ill be late for that”

Well first of all, you’re kinda reaching with the whole keeping the old music alive stuff. Second, you can’t keep older things alive and keep it fresh at the same time.

He doesn’t keep it alive, he just takes a small sample and in a way totally overshadows the original song with bass and drums. Not to mention the Hip-Hop beats typically follows a 4 second rhythm, so realistically in terms of whether he’s supporting the originality of the song or not, he’s probably just indirectly leaching off their originality for his talent to sample.

Also using your logic, 50 Cent can just keep rapping about guns, bitches, cars, drugs, and money since he’s “keeping some of the older music alive.” But hey, I bought 808’s & Heartbreaks, I just dislike the idea of you trying too hard to defend an artist. West has a knack/good eye for sampling, that’s it.

Anyway an intelligent person would have realized that the intent of the video was not to “expose” Kanye of sampling, but show the ridiculousness (sp) of just HOW MUCH he samples. As a producer I would think he would have some original songs, and since he doesn’t seem to, I wouldn’t respect him as much someone who works hard to CREATE classic joints. As producer part of the talent is being able to create what most can’t.

im not sayin i knew every song on that list. im just saying when your supposed to be one of hip hops greatest producers you shouldnt be sampling on every beat you make. its that simple. go out and actually learn music theory and make your shit from the ground up every now and then. anyone can add percussion to a track, it isnt hard, but to construct an original melody with real instruments, or even a god damn keyboard takes skill.

Taking an extremely old school Rock, Jazz, R&B, Soul, or Blues song and sampling a simple chord, drum sequence, and series of string notes and turning into a classic Hip Hop Anthem is simply genius. Not saying all kanye’s songs are hip hop anthems by any means lol. But all his beats are head bangers and he’s a absolutely amazing producer. And if you know what COPYRIGHT is. You obviously know Mr. West has Paid and Acknowledged these artist and asked permission to SAMPLE their music. Kanye West is not a Snake Bra. He’s a Genius and a SUPER producer. Hate it or love it.
