I have really bad timing
by on September 2nd, 2008
I've been reading alot about Detox lately--specially since it's supposed to hit stores in the next 30 days, which I highly doubt due to the death of Dre's son (RIP). Anyways, reading about it and checking out the feedback from fans on blogs and message boards one question lingers in the back of my mind.
What's the hype?
Why is everyone anticipating Detox?
Don't get me wrong, I'm a fan of Dre, The Chronic 2001 was a good album, he's a great producer, and definitely has an eye for talent. But as far as rapping goes, what is he, like top 30?
Is it all the ghost writers he has working on Detox?
Is it the potential collabos with 50 and Eminem that has everyone on the edge of their seats?
I mean, Lil Wayne said he was ghost writing some of Dre's verses, Do you really think you're going to get the same product as The Chronic/2001 from that guy? (Don't front, Tha Carter 3 was a HUGE disappointment).
So what is it exactly that has every god damn hip hop fan waiting for this album like it's the second coming?
Someone put me on to the hype.
By the way, I'm back bitches!, Took a vacation--oh yeah, for the folks that have been on Defsounds for more than year, remember around this time a year ago, we changed everything up?..Guess what's about to happen again..and about to happen again SOON. So if there's something you'd like to see changed..speak now or forever hold your peace.
Oh and one more thing, we recently started posting tracks from Hip Hop's new rainman Charles Hamilton--you know, tryna show some love to the mentally challenged hip hop community. For some reason you folks think we're only posting his bad tracks, umm..we're just posting his latest releases--is it really our fault that they suck?
Now then, here's some ear candy...my favorite track of August:

BROOKLYN STAND UP…BEDSTY, NOSTRAND IS DA AVE COME HOLLA
Chamillionaire’s track is awesome, by the way. The way he progrsses through a story is similar to Eminem. And you can’t tell me that the skit & last verse don’t sound like some Marshall Mathers shit.
“Leave Mom Leave” = “Breathe Bitch Breathe” off the track Kim
DRE is a GENIUS! the man brought out Nas, Em, Snoop, Damn near evry legend and legends to be, NWA co-ceo of Death Row
without Dre theres no:
NWA – ice cube, eazy-e etc.
Death Row: you know who they are Pac, Snoop etc.
The Firm: Nas, Foxy, AZ
Shady: eminem, Obie, D12
G-unit
BWS
now think about how many people all of em influenced, the list is endless
good track, I for one still fork out cash for cd’s
this cd will stay in peoples cars.. everyone knows and respects dre as an artist, no matter who writes for him.. his beats are incredible and hes gonna have a ton of colabs so its almost like a feature album from what we’ve all heard.. 50, em, jay, nas.. i dont need to go any further.. those 4 right there should put anyone on the hype.
fucking faggot
You said it…I heard “Aint nothing but a G thing” on the radio today..Shit it’s been like what 15 years or so and it still is hard as fuck and 2001 was a classic!!!It brought Snoop back to where he belongs! On his West Coast shit..
To answer this editorial..This is why we are waiting on Detox.
“You never been on a ride like this befo’
With a producer who can rap and control the maestro "
n as far as wayne ghost writing for dre i wouldnt believe that if dre was 85 years old. maybe em… but not wayne lol what a joke. thats like sayin u wanna have dmx handle all ur money… just doesnt make sense. dre writes much better than wayne.
Dre didn’t bring Nas out, he was just a contributor on The Firm album, since it was released on his label. M.C. Serch brought Nas out way before that. Remember Nas had Illmatic, and It Was Written, before The Firm album came out. The Firm was Nasir’s idea, so had it not been on Aftermath, with Dre’s involvement, it would still have come out on another label. So you were wrong in saying Dre brought Nas out, they just collaborated. Aside from the Nas part, good point. And Mos_Real420, “What doesn’t make sense” is you saying Dre is a better writer than Lil Wayne. How can someone who has people do his writing for him, a better WRITER than someone who writes his lyrics? Everyone knows Dre’s hits are written by ghostwriters. 2 examples, “Still Dre” by Jay-Z, “Forgot About Dre” by Eminem. Now I am not even a Weezy fan, but facts are facts. You should brush up on yours. PEACE Come check out The Livin’ Large Morning Show w/ Bobby Livin’, and Tony Large Sundays 11am-1pm EST at clubmegamix . com. You’ll like it.
As far as record sales, I’m sure Dre would love the Detox to be a “huge disappointment” like the Carter 3 (platinum in a week).
Until then, I’ll be listening to The Recession cuz that album is fuckin nice. I’m actually anticipating Jada’s album more than Detox.
No offense Jokesta but STFU
Yall do post his bad songs, instead of postin dat last song yall posted by him yall should’ve posted Do What You Love
Listen 2 it if u haven’t bcuz dat song is da truth n it trashes any song made by dat generic ass muthafucka ASSer Roth
the other 1 used to look alot better
and NaS was platinum wit “It Was Written” which featured only 1 Dre track.. We anticipatin Detox cuz Dre always pioneers a new sound that we all love. He’s the Quincy Jones of rap, but who wants to actually hear Quincy Jones RAP??!!
Anyways, Dre is a legend, just like Rakim, KRS, Biggie, etc. When a legend says they are going to drop an album we wait with anticipation.
hope it drops this year! highly doubt it will be here in 30 days, lol no way!
tht cham track is kinda wild lol
r.i.p. to his son real talk tho.
A recent album that I can listen all the way through without skipping a single track is Lupe Fiasco’s The Cool. I think that album is great—specially for a concept album.
HeadkRakk ~ 5000
And it had one or two songs on it that I hated and will never like
But the overall album is genius
Dre has never been a good rapper but he is actually way more important than just being a good rapper
I cant believe u dont understand why a new Dre album is so heavily anticipated Jokesta
But then again everybody knows that u have some kind of an East coast Bias!
jock a little too hard or y’all either respect his work.
The dude is one of best, because he has adapted over time; But I know
I’m not waiting for any of his ish. Charles on the other hand…
Dudes just feel themselves to the point that they don’t care.
There is my answer right there. Also the Snoop and Dre collabos are always great.
HeadkRakk~ 5000
ReDef.
To get the fuck you and thank you buttons back
And able to embed the youtube videos like we were able to before
“Don’t front, Tha Carter 3 was a HUGE disappointment”
completely agree
if wayne is apparently ‘ghost writing some of dres verses’ i dont belive ill be buying it
i wont be able to listen to such a legendary rapmogul spittin the rhymes a no-talent R&B singer (t-wayne) writes for him..
just wont happen
but im pretty sure the Doctor has more sence then to let wayne ghost write for him
Like everyone else said, The Chronic & 2001 we’re classics.
And because of the time that he puts in between all of his albums is what makes it even more anticipated. Some rappers drop albums like every 2 years, maybe more maybe less, but i don’t think that there are any rappers that do it in like 9 years between them, that’s a lot of time man.
Plus he also has said that he won’t be talkin about lowriders and blunts and all that anymore, wich makes us wonder what it is going to be about.
That’s what all the hype is about, but right now, the man is in a lot of pain and stress, he’s lost his son and everyone keeps talkin about Detox, we can’t even imagine how he must feel like right now, so stop all the questions about his album and let the man take his time.
BLACK WALLSTREET
haha
Any way Dre is a legendary producer and it is an album im going to buy…
Nas is getting pretty old but “Untitled” was still a hell of an album…
Age shouldnt matter…it is about the amount of work that u put into something and this dude has been working on this for a long time so it should be good…but damn i didnt know he had people like Wayne ghost writing….
WHAT TYPE OF SHIT IS THAT
Wayne has the potential to ruin this album
I hope Dre hasn’t lost his smarts and has wayne on more then one song thats already to much is you ask me
Wayne has no business on this album this all about Chronic not Swag
I remember when the album sampler dropped, people shit on the album, but then the album drops, sells 1m, and everyone calls it a classic and shit..
I like the Wayne from The Carter.. Even The Carter 2 was decent.
carter iii WAS a disappointment
and i cant wait for Detox no matter who ghostwrites itll be good to hear him and em rap for the first time in a while.
I think jokesta just says the most off the wall shit he can come up with so he can start some shit or just 2 c how many peoples opinion suddenly change cuz of what he said
Ill wait 4 Detox 4 another 9 years if i have 2…. nigga its Dre
TUESDAY SEPTEMBER 2, 2008
(Don’t front, Tha Carter 3 was a HUGE disappointment).
…..real shit ….im from new orleans and it was 13 songs….
still no classic
you play ball… it matters how many points you can put up on the board seeing as most points win…
but as far as detox goes… I personally don’t get where any of these people are coming from talking this and that about it’s gon be an instant classic. everytime I see y’all dub something that title before it even drops it ends up disappointing me. so maybe it’s y’all…
& the Chamillionaire track is great and appropriate especially to this site right here.
let’s talk about something relevant: go out and cop jeezy’s new album.
HE PRODUCES MAD FIRE AND HER CAN RAP END OF.
HE PRODUCES MAD FIRE AND HE CAN RAP END OF.
he’s signs artists that make classics…
he is one of the greatest producers of all time (of all music)
is this a serious question???
1. Dre has a brilliant mind that has had better afterthoughts than most people’s good ideas, so any beat that comes from it is fire (Bishop Lamont-Grow Up AKA My Shit)
2. Yeah, he needs ghostwriters, but you know he’s gonna go get the best writers for HIS record
3. The collabs (Nas, Jay, Wayne, Em)will be powerful
4. He’s from the golden days of hip hop, so his thoughts on the game are valued
ITS THE FACT THAT CHRONIC AND 2001 ARE 2 OF THE GREATEST RAP ALBUMS EVER MADE….period…
U know what you need to change on def sounds…..
everything
update the album reviews when the album actually comes out…stop posting news stories that other sites put out 3 days earlier, and how about making that one a day come back
co-sign, and for the album reviews…have a non-retarted person doing them that is actually mentally capable of writing a non-biased review
