Let's take a moment and be completely honest. You want to know a hear another reason why I've been away?..Because I don't give a shit about the Hip Hop of today. I don't give a shit about the industry or the people behind it and I don't give much of a shit about this generation of hip hop listeners.
The industry has always been fickle, but the quality of music made up for it's idiocracy (yeah, that's not just a movie, it's also a word).
However, we're in a state where the music is just terrible with next to little diversity.
I don't give a shit about J. Cole or a Jay Electronica. I'm not saying they're music is bad by any means..I'm saying their music is boring.
I don't give a shit about Drake and his baby steps rhyming patterns.
I don't give a shit about Slaughterhouse, they're all talented and are all incredible MC's..but what's next?..yeah Royce is dropping Bar Exam 3...Street Hop was a mess of an album, Crooked's freestyling, Ortiz's still working on Free Agent and Joe's just bitching about bitches and niggas taking his bitches or whatever the case..but what's next?
And are they seriously Black Balling Kanye West?..Was I the only one that was upset at him not being in the Run This Town super bowl spot? or them doing Forever at the grammy's without Ye'?..You can't have Forever without Ye'..thats like threeEver...and that shit just doesn't make sense.
And he's getting black balled for giving Taylor Swift the biggest boost of her career?..That over-rated ant-eater in the face ho should be down right thankful.
I don't give a shit about the We Are The World remake which looks like a Spoof straight out of the Boondocks (back on air March 28th by the way).
What the FUCK was LL Cool J doing?...And I don't know if you've ever heard a pig getting raped ..if you haven't..hit up Mayo, he has a bunch of home made movies...anyways, Wyclef sounded like that.
And finally, I don't give a shit about Hip Hop blogs now a days. Seriously, Bloggers are BEEFING. BLOGGERS ARE BEEFING. Are you fucking kidding me?..

for me, the last interesting thing to happen was when 50 blew up in the early 2000s, since then its all just gone stale. i meam there are new artists like drake, and j.cole but what is there for them to say that i havnt heard before?? only the younger generation of kids will be entertained ( i talk like im old but im just 19). truth is i just dont find hip hop as interesting and entertaining as i used to. to be honest i wish there were more artists like kid cudi who are willing to be different and try something new cuz thats the only thing that will keep me interested.

if the music you see on tv and hear on radio is boring, turn the television and the radio off and go to a local independent hip-hop record store. jesus christ jokesta don’t you live in new york? go to fat beats and find some real music for crying out loud. don’t just say you give up. that’s MORE discouraging than what major media markets are selling as hip-hop nowadays.
There are too many nerd rappers with the same style, there are too many back packers with the same style, there are too many hood rappers with the same style…
There’s nothing different. You hear these dudes and you can instantly say “he sounds like so and so”…that’s the prob..

No, I’ve been listening to alot of old school..alot of is new to me so it gets me by.
The point is, we need progression. We need more people that aren’t looked at as “rappers” but as “musicians”. I hate 90% of mainstream rap since it has generic ass beats with terrible lyrics. I love the old school boom bap sound but even with my love for those types of beats, we need something different, we can’t just be making the same sound with the same samples and drum breaks that were being used 10-15+ years ago eventually, even with the different takes on the samples, etc. there it will be too repetitive.
Bottom line is we need artists, not rappers. Whether you love him or hate him I really can’t think of anyone else I would consider an “artist” as Kanye. He raps, makes hip-hop beats, more soul beats, etc. (even though they basically are all sampled), designs shoes, clothes, directs videos, basically everything. But because MTV hired him for a stunt on their award show, people hate him now (yes, I said it… That had to be scripted. The people involved and how it all unfolded was just too easy). I’m not saying Kanye is the best or anything like that. Just as far as being able to reach out to different markets, hip-hop needs a lot more people like him.

Jokesta, I couldn’t agree with you any more bro. Hip hop is definately been in a swift decline for a minute now. It’s just not diverse enough. It’s almost like follow the leader, one guy does something “cool” and all the chickens flock to it until its a standard and everyones doing it. You don’t see that in rock, counrty, or any other genre really… well maybe country but its always been crying in your bear type of music or some generic love song.
Autotune was the worst thing to happen to hip hop. It made it gay real quick and whats more it WON’T GO AWAY. If it was up to me, anyone who used it would get stripped of their booth privileges and fucked in the ass rodeo style by the same guy who got Bow Wow way back when. It’s a bullshit trend, a virus, a spreading cancer with no cure for the bandwagoners. But just like every other trend it will go away and just like the in style of clothing the old will become new again. Hip hop… Rap will come back again. Emphesis on lyrical content and pure unfiltered raw music will once again return… some day.
As for Wayne… fuck him. Don’t get me wrong, I was a fan of his long ago. He was a decent rapper at one time when he was puttin out music like the original Carter, before he went all rock star. His problem is he thought he could put anything on a track and it’d be a hit – Wrong. No one wants to fucking rock out with you Wayne. The funny thing is the guy has to think his last album isn’t total garbage otherwise it would of never been released… no wonder it was pushed back so many times.
I almost hate myself for saying this but in a way I’m glad he’s going away. At least we get 6-12 Wayne free months and a chance to recover from all the wackness. And I know he’s not solely responsible for the state of hip hop but he’s had alot to do with it. That’s just my opinion so call me a hater or whatever I really don’t care… I call it reality son.

1) there’s only so many words in the english language and only so many ways to put them together in a particular tempo. i mean… seriously, “The Simpsons Already Did It.” Literally.
