I never thought this day would come. I logged on, saw a new Ludacris song from his upcoming Battle of the Sexes album entitled Sexting had hit my email. I was already skeptical of the song when i saw it was produced by the Neptunes (whole 'nother story) but when i hit play, to my amazement the beat was easily the best part of the song. Now this article is not about that song itself, its about the musical product that Christoper Bridges is released in the past years.
I could go into a long drawn out speech about how I believe Luda is falling off over the past few years but we all hear the music, let's call it what it is, Luda is wack now.
This is something I've been noticing since Release Therapy, it seems like Luda has been making music to make music. The most puzzling thing about Luda's descent in quality of music is we all know he can kill a beat, he has some of the best guest verses that you can put out. So the question remains, why when it comes to his own product does it seem that he's not going his hardest. Don't get me wrong, I rocks with Nicki, but who would've ever thought that she would out-perform Luda on his own joint.
I think Luda is suffering from a lack of inspiration, maybe he doesn't feel challenged enough. War With God is the best song I've heard from 'Cris in a while and we all know the motives behind that song, now that supremacy for leader of the south has been put to the side it seems like Luda just wants to put out anything. I don't think all is lost though, I believe he can return to top form if he feels challenged again to make compelling music. But with his last two average albums and his upcoming release with Battle Of The Sexes coming March 9th its hard to still support an obviously declining product.

That declining product......
Do you think Luda can takeover the scene again or is his time done?

By the way, Luda is not whack at all. Dude can spit, but today’s market demands retarded ass simple songs so it is what it is I guess…
Thank you Soulja Boy, Gucci Mane and the rest of yall whack ass niggas for fucking it up for the rappers in your own region. LMFAO! Whackness is a cylce that real rappers from the South can’t even escape.
why you niggas think AI grew his shit back so fast…lol Cuz he was WHACK without them…lol
if only we could go back to the GROWING PIANS days ya digg . yuuuuuuup
I’m not sure where Luda is going with this album, but I give him a pass. If Jay (Kingdom Come), Wayne (that Rock garbage), Nas (Nastradamus), etc can come out with fair albums he can get a pass on this.
that shit was pretty fucking raw….like i think he does these concept albums like Battle of the Sexes for fun, but he definitely is still raw as fuck and would rip 9/10 rappers IMO..
like how can u even say he fell off at all, his last shit was a banger man i bumped that for a good 6 mos….listen to his verse on I Do It for Hip Hop. he ran with jay-z and nas on that shit…like they didnt outshine him at all… and the song MVP, that shit is straight crack…
idk i think luda is still a beast. hes still in the top 5 for me…prob wont bump battle of the sexes but everybody drops there little bs concept albums, usually people love them or hate them
every Luda disc is a classic
I think he is one of those artist that can make any kind of song because he dont try to fit into any one kind of image
Any artist that has been around as long as him is going to eventually make sub par songs and albums
Good blog.
He getting paid regardless…Thats why….lol
and seriously, because he knows WHAT SELLS, and WHAT DOESN’T…period….
Why try to be the “greatest mc” when he can make more money being average…
PLUS I guess he’s prolly putting more energy into the film industry anyway because you can make WAAAAYYY more in hollywood…
PlUS he’s a busy guy….He doesn’t have the time on his hands to “write” like he did when “back for the first time” came out…
“Niggaz fakin’ only gonna inspire (Motivation)
All yo hatin’ in fuel to my fire (It’s motivation)
Niggaz plottin’ on the crown ??? (It’s motivation)
Hey but I ain’t slowin’ down and I ain’t stoppin’ (Motivation)
Now nigga don’t stop my show (Motivation)
You ain’t know I don’t stop, I go (It’s motivation)
Sucka niggaz can’t make me suffer
Just make me stronger and make me tougher (It’s motivation)”
Niggas ALWAYS make their BEST music when they have REAL beefs or REAL problems on their hands…I can name 100 songs based off of REAL drama in an artists lives that turned into GREAT music….
Why you niggas think 50 always beefing? Its partially because of marketing, but its ALSO because he knows he made his BEST music when he had that ANGER, and that FIRE in his stomach…
He got Shot 9 times and made “many men”
He had a REAL beef with Ja and made “back down”
We all know what happend with Jay and Nas…
and FINally….Back to the point of the comment LUDA….
Remember this?
“Nobodys Thinkin’ About You, Plus Your Beats Ain’t Legit
So Please Stay Off The T.I.P. Of My Diiiiicccckkkk!!!!!!”
Basically what I’m saying is this nigga need to get MAD again!!!!!! Once you get rich you really don’t have anything to be angry about, so I don’t think its ever gonna be the same…
funny shit..lol
You got to remember though this is his job, his career, what he does to live, and unfourtnetly this is the material that will sell. I will be just find with that as long as he releases a mixx tape going hard 4 us lyrical fanz
when a rapper accomplishes selling records and recieves respect from numerous peers and fans the artists isnt gonna continuously just do the same thing, in order to reach other audiences and make new money u gotta dumb down lyrics.. how low is number 6 in the country right now.. in the hot 100 luda’s tryna do shit like that,. not kill tracks just to get respect from some bloggers and internet users.. thats what his mixtapes n freestyles r for.. luda didnt lose his skill, hes just tryna become a different type of artist..
(and you’re right, he does have great guest verses. he murdered On Top of the World with T.I.)
if anything, he set the bar too high…thats why its so hard for him to live up to it…
