I’m not going to entertain the topic on domestic violence stats pertaining to men. The reality remains: men are physically stronger than women. That’s not to be disputed. If a man chooses not to hit back (or not to remove himself from an abusive relationship) and then contribute to the statistics you just mentioned, that’s a completely different reality than that of domestic violence against women (particularly where children are involved).

Same point applies to sexual assault – he can leave. A woman cannot physically hold down a man. She can sexually assault him, yes – but only with his consent.

As far as the slut/bitch argument goes, I would expect you as a law student to attempt to understand the socio-political dynamics and explanations behind loaded language. It is not enough for law students to study and interpret legislation; even though law is reactionary overall as it currently stands, you must understand the social implications of gendered/racial/sexual/religious/“ethnic”/economic discrimination.

It’s not about “defending” bitches. As there isn’t a definition of the word “bitch”, it is something that is used by petty men who lack vocabulary and intellect to express their emotions toward a woman, ANY woman can be called a bitch at ANY time so long as that small-minded man chooses to utter the word.

I think you’re missing the point regarding the word “bitch”. All women are women. The labels you choose to give to women are labels that carry either positive or negative connotations. Rarely are such labels neutral. There is no “line”. What you may deem as shady or unacceptable behavior is usually a result of deep-rooted issues (family, socio-economic, political, etc). You may address those issues or remove yourself from the situation. But derogatory name calling a) doesn’t address the root cause of the problem and b) doesn’t teach young people – male and female – how to behave and understand one another. And such youths mature into adults with immature mentalities.

Again, I don’t have slut friends. LOL. Actually, one. He’s an Olympic athlete and women just feed off his looks/body. That’s the only one I can think of, so you’re right in that sense.

Lastly, derogatory names should not be handed out on a case-by-case basis.
