Cudi And Drake have Strong Showings In Their Debut's
by on September 17th, 2009
The projections are in and XXL Freshman alumnus Kid Cudi is ahead of the class.
Kid Cudi has had a whirlwind past couple of weeks, he's released a new album; was a guest on the Dave Letterman show, and even performed live at concert with Jay on 9-11. It looks like all of the exposure over the last couple of weeks has really paid off, and the Hip Hop freshman is being projected to sell between 110-120,000 records from his debut album Man on the Moon: The End of Day.
But Cudi isnt the only one doing good, his label mate Drake also had a pretty good week with the release of the retail version of his mixtape So Far Gone which is expected to sell between 55 and 60 thousand records in its Soundscan debut. With the projected results of their album sales, it looks like these two rookies maybe on the way to very successful careers.
In an interview with XXL, Cudi spoke about how all of this exposure with Hov, Letterman, and the VMA's will help with his album sale's and he seemed to think that they would drasticly effect how succesful he would be at reaching out to fans.
“I think it’s gonna make a lot of people more aware, I think it’s gonna make a lot of people a lot more interested because in these last couple of days each of those moments has been different demographics, the Jay-Z was definitely a hip-hop show, and later on seeing me on David Letterman, which is a very mainstream show, you know you don’t see a lot of hip-hop artists on a Letterman type show, so each thing I did was very monumental.”
The projection for both Drake and Cudi's album sale were based on first day sales.

i dont listen to him though
TO ME ITS BORDERLINE CLASSIC………….ACTUALLY IT IS ONE.(thats alot coming from me cause im kinda picky)
king
drake<cudi on a lyrical stand point and if you say not then your an idiot however its cudi>drake on a creative level.
people who say drake is overrated really hasn’t heard his songs, drake has quotes for DAYS
“I create hits/Unlike a bitch who aint married i aint miss, 24 hours to greatness/im that close” ~drake
cudi is more creative than drake
drake is more lyrical than kid cudi
cudi needs to work more with kanye west they can make classics
and concerning whos better out of him a CuDi, it isnt even a comparison. CuDi is everymans rap and Drake is woman’s rap. he’s in it for the ladies, said it himself, so you cant compare them because of their drastic difference in style.
Niggas are hating on Drake but he’s pretty fucking nice on the mic.
And Cudi may not be the most lyrical but he is definitely refreshingly different and makes good music.
but Lets not forget about “B.O.B.”….. that boy is fire too. If you don’t know bout him, you’re sleeping on good music.
Cuz they all are better as newcomers than alot of niggas that have been out longer than them. They can only get better,
and if that is true……
These 3 guys are gonna be the future of hiphop.
And I swear man, yall niggas just won’t give this nigga his credit.
I think Drake’s a goofy lil cornball “as a person”, but he’s got skills on the mic.No denying it. Now u tryna say her don’t even come up with his own shit!
I bet your just mad cuz your girl left you for some light skinned nigga.lmao
(and no, i’m not lightskinned)
Dog, you’re the meaning of a hater.
let the boy shine man.
Kia Shine produced a song for lil wayne and drake took the melody of the song and used it for best i ever had. Since drake took portions of Kia Shines song kia shine gets a piece of the pie. get it? you guys need to learn about the music industry i swear lol
ps. drake took the melody of Do It For Your Boy by Lil wayne Feat. Nut Da Kid and used waynes opening verse exactly
ch is wack, whatever i dont get the online hype about him, id ont hear anyone for real talkin about him tho

GO GET KRS-ONE & BUCKSHOT – SURVIVAL SKILLS, REAL HIPHOP
he was sick like 40 years ago not now
he is smart as fuck tho
As for Cudi.. He sick. Album is dope, all his work is dope. It’s what hip-hop needed.. A fresh new wipe in it’s ass, because most of the rap now is SHIT.
only time will tell.
