Common Out As Green Lantern?

http://media.defsounds.com/uploads/assets/2287/2317/14652/asset.jpgIn February of 2008, Chicago Hip Hop star Common confirmed his role in Warner Brother’s upcoming Green Lantern movie. Common was quoted saying.

“It’s a blessing really, to know that I could be this superhero. Justice League itself is an honor, and Green Lantern is an incredible character to play. It’s a blessing to be associated with it.”

Now the word on the street has Common out of the role as the super-hero for the upcoming Green Lantern movie which is slated for a Dec. 17, 2010 release.

Warner Brothers says the reason why Common is now out had to do with production issues and script re-writes, that had the movie more focused on the Caucasian, Green Lantern, Hal Stewart instead of the African-American, Green Lantern, John Stewart.

On the plus side for fans of Common, you’ll still be able to see him in the upcoming movie Terminator: Salvation.

What kind of BS is this?!?! “that had the movie more focused on the Caucasian, Green Lantern, Hal Stewart instead of the African-American, Green Lantern, John Stewart” They purposely changed it to probably make the cast all “Caucasian.” Common is a solid actor they should have left it alone. If Brad Pitt plays a Mexican, Tom Cruise a samurai, why couldnt common stay in the role?!

If they replace Common for that guy in the new James Bond movies, I will concede it was an acting choice…but if he get’s replaced for someone like that faggot “bad-boy” from the OC, you damn right I would believe it’s racial

if you know anything about the comic, Hal way a way better story of a Green Lantern, He was the first one, AND, he also turns evil so you know there will be a sequel, when (John-Green Lantern) will be coming to Earth to fight against the (Hal-Green Lantern). So, BOOM. Two hit movies instead of one…. Thats why Im a money maker.

Although I disagree with this decision, Hal Jordan is a truthfully more popular Green Latern so I can kinda see their point. However, Common has the look of John Stewart, and there’s a lacking of cultural diversity within the super hero film business that could use some help.

First and foremost its Hal Jordan not Hal Stewart. And Second… why is this the first time I’m hearing about Common being in the Green Lantern Movie? Anyways, it makes sense but at the same time it doesn’t. Fans know of Hal Jordan as Green Lantern than anyone else, but people who have only watched the cartoons know Jon Stewart as GL.

I’m actually happy about this, Jon was always boring as hell to me. But fuck, if the movie does good and gets a sequel then they can throw in Common as Jon. They’re a police force anyway
