50 Cent To Face Off Against Jay-Z On 9/11

As we previously reported, during an interview with Jimmy Kimmel, Fif confirmed the release of Before I Self Destruct in the second week of September.

In an all-too-familiar move, sources now claim the Queens bred rapper will be releasing the LP on September 11th, 2009, going head to head in yet another Sound Scan battle with a Roc-A-Fella artist.

Two years ago, Fif challenged and lost a highly publicized Sound Scan clash against Kanye West.

West's Graduation's first week sales of 957,000 copies beat out Curtis' first week sales of 691,000 copies, marking the second time ever that two albums sold more than 600,000 copies in a week in the United States.

Jay-Z's last LP, American Gangster, sold 445,000 copies during it's first week of release.

Though albums are typically released on Tuesdays, Jay-Z decided to go with the unorthodox Friday release date to celebrate the 8 year anniversary of his first Blue Print LP.

thats why most labels agree to put out albums at the same time .
so when are buying their fav.artist music they may also buy that other cd right next to it.

Personally: I’m buying “Bp3” ,and maybe “BISD” but i want to see how much these two sell ……………………HOW MUCH YOU GUYS THINK THEY’LL DO FIRST WEEK?

im thinking Bp3 will do 600,000 copies and BISD will do around 450,000(lets see)

So far it doesn’t sound like its a battle. 50 just knows he will probably get more sales this way. It’s funny people automatically think its gonna be a battle just because of 50’s past. He will probably turn it into a battle because he knows even if he loses he will get more sales, same with Jay. I mean, Graduation was a sick album, but do you really think it would have made close to platinum numbers the first week if it wasn’t for all the desperate 50 haters buying 2, 3, 5, 10 Kanye albums just to make sure 50 would lose.

I think in the battles if someone is to buy more than one copy of one album it should go down as at least half a sale for the other artist just to even out all the haters and actual fans.

Neither one has a solid hit to do huge numbers like that. With the Kanye/50 sound scan battle Ye had “Can’t tell me nothing” and Fif had “I get money.” DOA is aight but it’s not a huge record selling hit. Same with 50, there isn’t a stand out hit. But they can both at least do 400K just off their names so, I don’t know.

I really don’t understand how Curtis sold 691,000 in his first week and that album and American Gangsta only sold 445,000, it must be the only hype competition thing and how do people hate on American gangsta, I like that album a lot and I think it is better than a lot of Jay-Z’s albums.
