50 Cent Claims He's Still "Number One" In The Game
by on July 1st, 2009

Despite the major downward slope in sales of 2007's Curtis compared to his sophomore album The Massacre, 50 Cent still says he reigns supreme over the rap world. 50 sat down with XXL to discuss things from Jay-Z's consistency to how his sales compare to Lil' Wayne.
Right off the bat, 50 acknowledges his friend and mentor Eminem's massive success with Relapse (having been certified platinum a few weeks ago), saying that he would not be here without Em's aid. However, he quickly confirmed his supremacy over Wayne.
“What does that mean that you sold that?” he says, referencing last year's Tha Carter III which sold over a million copies in it's first week. “So you gonna forget that I sold 10 million albums twice -12 million first album, 10 million next one. So what does that one million mean?“
Fif says his fans are "quick to forget his history" when it comes to the new kid on the block. "What you’re talking about is who is a buzz,” he explained. “A buzz is a song. So the next song that I release can turn me back into what you feel like is the hottest thing out here. So I mean if I’m showing you full capability of it than what makes you doubt that.”
50, real name Curtis Jackson, went on to congratulate Jay-Z on his consistency and relevance throughout the years.
“There’s a respect that is well deserved on Jay-Z’s part because he’s had that cloud come over him and constantly worked his way through it, having so many projects come out and be successful and maintain meaning,” he said. “There’s a significance in it. Because they go, after countless amounts of hit records, they go ‘You think you can go out and do it again’. Ask me if I think he can do it again, ‘hell yeah,’ cause he did it how many times in front of us. What makes you think he can’t do it again.”
50 is currently working on his heavily-anticipated fourth LP, Before I Self Destruct and numerous G-Unit mixtapes - as well as his own; Forever King.

Fif has to be the dumbest rapper alive..
He aint sell no damn 10 and 12 million albums in a recession..
Dont get me wrong..that is still a lot and everything but record sales are much different nowadays..
I think he is just jealous that other rappers are hotter than him right now and no1 gives a fuck about him no more..
“GOT SHOT 9 TIMES”and" SO GANGSTA" so now that ,that persona is not as shocking and cool anymore he isnt getting the same amount of huge numbers
KANYE SOLD ABOUT 900,000plus first week
LIL WAYNE sold over 1MILLION first week
THOSE TWO ARE THE BIGGEST HIPHOP ARTIST OUT RIGHT NOW
50cent is now in the middle of the group untill he releases next album ,till then he needs to cool it .
kings thoughts
Well dumb fuck…Back then rap was still a huge market and shit was selling. In this drought that one mill (especially in a week) equals more than that 12 and 10 mill.
In this drought that one mill (especially in a week) equals more than that 12 and 10 mill.
thats not right at all. not even close. one mill doesnt fuck with 12 million on any scale at any time. a mil in a week is great. but its not 12 million copies. then coming out again selling 10 million. its not like wayne wasnt coming out when get rich or die trying did. he just wasnt selling. just look at all time history, how many rap albums have sold a mil in the first week? now how many are certified diamond? waynes real hot now, but back then 50 had the game in a choke hold
TOS SOLD OVER 100K “TOTAL”………Means it’s tough right Now! You living off the past Homie!
Let’s be REAL! Your first 2 albums was purchased from the South and Overseas!
Do the Math People!
Carter 3 Also leaked 10 days before it’s release. You have to take into account all the variables. I’m not saying 1 mill in a week equals 12 mill… but what C3 did was the most impressive Hip Hop album in recent memory (as far as sells go).
I personally have high hopes for his upcoming CD his last mix-tape and the singles off his new one really have me interested again. Cocky son of a bitch but that’s what I love about him.
wayne has dropped plenty of classic shit
carter I & II both classics. III jus sold the milli fast
too many classic mixtapes to even start naming…
but 50 might be number one in gettin ca$h rite now
!
He make it so easy to not like him bcuz everything he say is unnecessary, and its even worse that its calculated pumpin up Jay but slamming Wayne and belittling Drake a lil while ago, time to move on 50 u aint a rapper u a bully that like to rap bcuz its good business or at least WAS good business for him, lol.
2 fingers
Well Fif, that ONE million means that you are no longer anywhere near as relevant and people do not want to hear your crap music anymore. That is what ONE million means compared to TWELVE. Not to mention, mufuckers broke these days and don’t buy albums anyways but mostly the first part.
Now everybody kno Im the biggest 50 fan………….and he’s honest about this article. Besides Jay-Z Eminem & 50 nobody made big money in the rap game like them…………..maybe snoop maybe Dre but that’s it. Lil Wayne is washed he washed hiself with his own artist (DRAKE) Lil Wayne went platinum off of rockers not people from the Hip Hop community! And it’s very very very easy to go platinum when the white race is behind you! But to sell DIAMOND!!!!!!! U have to have a great respect from people all over the world. Selling 10 million and 12 million is not HIP HOP numbers at all thats a whole nother genre like ROCK, COUNTRY, & even pop! So to all the haters i wrote this to say you can like who you want but you have to respect artists like Jay, 50 & Eminem cuz they broke records not just 1 time but several times! Im not feeling 50 songs right now at all but he’s a man that knows how to move the pieces in this rap game……..At this point it doesnt even matter what 50 drops! I just can’t believe niggas still like Lil Wayne!
last album i faithfully listened to wasnt even an album it was his soundtrack to his movie.
